That is true. I've seen some of the Scooby Doo fanart/fanfiction around and some of it is just... ugh. That's one of the reasons why I want to do more fanart for the show; There's not much fanart A. For Shaggy/Velma and B. In a more Hanna-Barbera style, which I like to attempt to do. I used to be REALLY great at Shaggy and Scooby a few years ago but I kinda lost my touch. lol

Well, my story, "Velma Dinkley goes to Hell!" isn't exactly in the HB style. I may have turned ol' Velma into a pot smoker, but that plays a bigger part in the story later.
I wanted to write a social satire addressing certain topical issues, especially involving the Rev. Fred Phelps and his little hate cult, as well as toying with Velma's image as a sappho(she's not in my story) and her cult status in pop culture.
Plus, there's a romantic sub-plot involving her and Shaggy, who only appears in the story briefly.
Still, I find a picture of Velma and Shaggy kissing to be better than her doing something that is, as you put it, UGH.

I mean in terms of art, I like trying to style them HB, though Velma usually comes out more in my style lol. I hate seeing her pictures on here with like... effing HUGE boobs or her and Daph in compromising positions (which, if it was done tastefully, I maybe wouldn't mind, even though I don't like that pairing, but it's NOT done tastefully.)
GOOD. I hate Phelps! WBC came to protest at my University (Rutgers) and we held an anti-rally/"Rutgers Against Hate"-- We sang songs of love and brotherhood and scared them away within 5 minutes! It was awesome.
I'll have to read your story, it sounds awesome! Honestly, I'd probably go so far as write smut for them (I probably will >>

Actually, I wish one of Phelps' robots would read my story and they would all come and protest outside my home. I need the publicity.
And besides, I have some rotten fruit I need to get rid of and need some practice for my pitching arm...
