Hello, watcher here . I'll see if I can help improve your piece.
First and foremost, the colours are surprisingly muddy. Considering your bright ponies and liberal use of colours in them. It's weird to see a piece from you with such dull and boring browns and yellows. It makes the painting feel sombre despite it being a carnival. The highlights around the figures is slight overdone. could be toned down abit and maybe not pure white/teal for the fabric?
The light source behind could be more to the left? or right? whichever, just something not so dead center and also turned down. Feels like i'm having a seizure with all these blaring bright lights.
Which really doesn't work with the stark brown/black background. It's an interesting contrast just too much for my eyes.
The poses are stiff and unnatural. She's pointing at something, yet her body is still facing us? It's too symmetrical. and putting them right in the dead center like that, is not doing any favors for the composition, and how they are standing too, people don't stand like that unless they gotta whiz.
I'm not a fan of bikini armor either. though thats probably not your fault.

The lightsource is basically everywhere, it's a carnival after all. The main lightsource is behind them, because I wanted the characters to pop out.
'after the ponies' 'dull' 'boring'. Don't compare the two styles, i wanted to do something different for a reason, and the brown, yellow and texture is there because I wanted to achieve a book-ish style.
The human's body is facing towards us, because her left arm is behind the sylvari, and showing the things around the event. The sylvari is standing this way because I wanted to give her a shy look.
Yes the bikini armors are from the game.
I accepted as 'fair' because I don't ignore anyone, but maybe our vision is not identical. This is not my greatest piece, but I was experimenting with the painting style, so i took more time on it and overdone some things.
But I'd say 20% what you said is true

I totally agree with you but can't think of a good color composition to substitute the yellow brown mix, maybe add a little of purple to make it complementary?

Honestly, just plugging in purple would be a bandaid approach. If I was redoing, I'd play around with the 'adjust' colors in photoshop and get something a little less muddy. Purple for a Carnival has a interesting mood. I'd prob stick with yellow/bronze/orange family myself. Any color could work, the colors just need to be less dirty looking.

Hello Atryl,
This is a really good peice of art. The reason you asked for cretiques was to know how you could inprove so I will only say how you could improve this. What I dont mention will be what I like. Any way the colour choice for the 2 characters is graet but they are not strong enough for the bright background. I would suggest making the background a bit dimmer or adding more power to the colors i.e making the red deeper or the green darker ect. Also I think there is a bit too much background shading *just my opinion* as I have not played guild wars I would like to see more of where these characters live. But appart from that I love it.

Je ne sais quel style tu utilises mais tu sembles super bien le maitriser. Le décor à certes un coté flou mais quoi de mieux pour stimuler notre imagination? ^^ Meme si personnellement je n'aurai pas été contre un peu plus de détails.
Les deux personnages sont également très réussi, l'anatomie et leur tenues (quoique courte XD) sont réussi et très détaillés. Leur visages expriment bien leur émotion actuelle. Les couleurs sont bien ternes voir sombres, je ne sais pas si c'est par rapport au jeux vidéo mais ça rend bien. ^^ (meme si je préfère des couleurs plus vives =3)
