Description
A door banged shut and Daphne stirred from her exhausted half sleep.
She could hear a man's voice, and slow shuffling footsteps approaching.
A flashlight flickered on, sweeping the ground ahead.
She was just able to make out the slight outline of a woman being led in shackles. "He's moving Velma!"
The unmistakable orange sweater, arms bound behind her back, ankle chains jangling with each careful step.
Then the light was on her, too bright - dazzling. She blinked, startled. Called out to her friend. "Ffelmaa".
"AFFNEE"
Then the light was out and they were gone. Her friend was gone.
Daphne tugged uselessly at the straps securing her arms so tightly in the lavender straitjacket. And tried again to push out her ballgag, but it was futile. The straps were pulled far to tightly for that.
She slumped onto the tired mattress. "Who will save me now?"
