Bo can see the visual manifestations of people’s emotions as a sort of aura. They appear in different colors and textures that he can identify as one of six basic emotions (happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, and surprise). He can decipher more complex or layered emotions to varying degrees of success based on how close he is, how well he knows the person, and how much time he has to study the visual representation. This makes it relatively easy for him to read people, and while not fool-proof, he has a good idea when someone is lying.
Though it's a more recent development, Bo can also convert the energy within emotional auras he touches into different forms. The stronger the emotion, the larger the area it effects. Each basic emotion corresponds to a type of physical energy he's able to subtly manipulate while under the influence of that aura.

Bo is not particularly pleasant to be around. He’s usually sullen, grumpy, and tries to keep to himself. He will not start a conversation, preferring to watch and observe people rather than actually interact with them. However, he does have a tendency to run his mouth, get himself into trouble, and then run away rather than face the problems he has created.
For the few friends he does manage to make, he will defend them to the best of his ability and support them in any way he can. Most of the time he’s focused on himself, but when he does choose to pay attention to someone else, they will have his complete undivided attention. This generally only happens with people he cares very deeply about.
Bo is extremely emotional as a result of his quirk and often doesn’t handle it well. He is prone to having very intense feelings. He's passionate about things that are important to him, quick to anger when he feels he's been wronged, and susceptible to getting caught up in his feelings rather than logic as much as he tries to be rational. He often picks up on the emotions of those around him and internalizes them.

History: Bo was born into a notable family line of heroes with psychic/mental quirks. He was raised by his mother for his early childhood, and had very little contact with the rest of his family because of a falling-out that happened before he was born. She was delighted by the colors Bo described seeing, always encouraging the use of his quirk to understand people and help them with what they were going through.
He was about seven when she failed to return from her work under mysterious circumstances, and finally met his grandparents when they took custody of him. They were strict, and had near impossible expectations of him to uphold the family reputation and legacy. He poured himself into his studies, but not to follow his grandparents’ wishes--Bo hoped that if he was able to develop his quirk enough, he’d be able to use it the way his mom had always encouraged him to.
His grandparents pushed for him to attend the same prestigious university his family had gone to for generations, but by then Bo had grown to resent their constant push for status over what he felt was right. He applied to Schuyler to try and get out from under their thumb, was accepted, and then promptly disowned.
Extras:
He eats an obscene amount of junk food, burgers especially.
His room is a disaster area. He can’t keep anything neat or organized.
A very restless sleeper, and usually doesn’t manage to fall asleep until very late at night.
Keeps a pair of noise-canceling headphones with him to discourage people from talking to him (or in case he gets overwhelmed).
