Audrey
I am writing from London, England. Β I only discovered your DA space today; an obvious red letter day for me....
Your work is nothing short of bloody marvellous.
You are clearly capable of, or in, several different styles and you excel in each and every one.

Your style seems very familiar, did you work on concept art for games like Fable 3 or Thief 2014? Just a very gorgeous stylized style!

You know it suddenly occurs to me that I don't remember seeing much of an actual physical description of the Baron. Beyond, you know, "oh shit he's spooky" and "o snap, lots of chains."
For some reason I always had this mental image of, I dunno, an evil overlord-lookin' Vin Diesel, haha. XD
They all look pretty spot-on though, for sure. : D

Very nice, I like the colour palette, etc. Interesting how Nick and The Fat Friar are both looking at the viewer and seem to be smirking while Helena and The Bloody Baron are both looking dead ahead with very serious expressions on their faces.

I love the Haughty expression on their faces, especially the one on Nearly Headless Nick's. Guess that comes with being a "Sir" n'all. What about Myrtle?

You know, I don't know if it was my insensitivity as a kid or what, but I never realised how mean the nicknames of the ghosts were. Apart from NHN, but that was because it was blatantly put that he didn't like his nickname.

I have a question. How did you develop drawing both from imagination and from reference so well? unfortunately for me art from the imagination is pretty crap. lol

AudreyBenjaminsen In reply to lnsordo91 [2012-10-30 16:19:20 +0000 UTC]
it's a fine balance of knowing what to take from reference to make it read and knowing what to add from your own visual vocabulary to make it better that something you can normally observe (this balance will help you visualize your voice, and allow it to feel natural when in use)

I think that when you see a character from a movie, you analyse her physical aspects and learn how to recognize the character face from 1000 others. Does he have a big nose? Pointy ears? A small chin?
Like how can we recognize Batman: black mask, pointy ears up to it, pointy and sharp nose, white eyes etc.
When you want to draw any character you saw, you feature those characteristics because that's how we can recognize him.
Then again, that's just drawing style. Imagination comes from everywhere: music, books, movies, your friends, your love, your life

I like it a lot when people draw the less known characters not just always harry, hermione and ron!
