About the flag - Brown represents soil, rot and decay (which increases during this season.) the Green represents how many plants are still alive during this time and who have not yet begun to die and will only do so with the onset of the winter frosts. Black represents Death,many animals and plants die towards the end of this season, and it is also a time when humans reflect on their own mortality (think Day of the dead and All souls day/Halloween) The Orange stripe represents the changing colours of the leaves and ripening of berries and gourds (Pumpkins). the Sun is shown to have declined since summer, but is still strong enough to bring some light and warmth. during this time the dark nights begin to creep back in, and this is represented by having the moon on the flag.
