Last entrance assignment I'm gonna post here. This is for Metropolia, we had to read a text by Kafka and draw a picture that has all the essential stuff of that text. I mostly concentrated on the mood and left a lot undrawn. There was a picture, I remember, and something on the desc, but I couldn't stuff it anywhere.

I must confess I've never read anything by Kafka, but I do know something about his style. His characters are pretty much unable to do what they like and the theme of alienation is very usual to Kafka's books.

In The Metamorphosis Georg Samsa wakes up to find himself having turned to a vermin. I don't know anything about the character of him, or the analysis some litetaty investigators have don about the book, but I intepreted it so that Samsa is not a literary cockroach but feels unwanted, unimportant and a burden to whoever takes care of him. That's why I drew him as a human. He is, though, covered in something weird and his spine is deformed and stuff, so he has lost some of his mental humanity already. The cockroach on the floor is the way he's heading, getting smaller and smaller and more pathetic. That's why the title is Today, Tomorrow if you know what I mean.

I'm so bad at symbolism. At least I tried :'DD

Now that I got rid of the analyzing part I can go to the technique 'CAUSE I HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH THIS! It's a combination of colour pencils, oil pastels, water colours and inks, all stuffed on an A3 paper. This piece cost me almost half a white oil pastel (I used to have two, now I only have like two centimetres of it. Need a new one~) to get the colours blend smoothly. I could've taken it further, but again, time was up. Since I had abandoned the last version of this same assignment (the last version was lame and the technique quite one-sided) I did all this yesterday (and today because I worked at night, too :'D).

Now everything's safely mailed, though. Time for me to stop babbling. I don't force you to read all this so Iäll just sum it up.
