My property has gained a reprieve of nice weather in the middle of the spring showers. I couldn’t help but notice that an apple tree in the orchard on my northeast corner was in bloom, and I decided to get a close-up shot. While many trees in our old orchard have since passed (including a Granny Smith apple tree I wanted), the few trees that remain alive do take on some beautiful blossoms to observe in spring. The whitish-pink hues look striking and welcoming in the spring warmth, a sign of life and endurance in spite of curveballs thrown from the elements.

Sure it’s not nearly as gorgeous as the cherry blossoms one can view in Portland or Salem, but it’s mine and I’m glad to see it here. With a seasonal honeybee farm to my north, western honeybees are bound to pollinate the blossoms and give us some naturalized apples by around late August. Here’s to hoping for some bountiful fruits.
