Happy birthday to Scott McCord!  He turns 49 years old today. In case anybody is in need of clarification, William Scott McCord, more commonly known as Scott McCord (born April 19, 1971), is a Canadian award-winning actor, voice actor and musician who has performed roles in a variety of TV shows like 6teen, The Famous Jett Jackson, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist, Yin Yang Yow, PAW Patrol (which I found out upon typing this), and Beyblade: Metal Fusion to name a few. He's also been a part of various films including Common Ground, 16 Blocks and Shoot 'Em Up. Among his many talents, this focuses on my favorite role of his and one of his most iconic -- Owen from the Total Drama franchise.

Although some fans have grown tired of the big guy, Owen remains one of my favorite characters in the franchise. He's a fun ray of sunshine to watch on the program, approaching many of the challenges or other situations with lots of enthusiasm, eccentric methods and other attributes, making for quite a few funny moments and viewings -- like trying to get along with Komodo dragons for their "venomous" saliva in "Got Venom" and his troubles hunting DJ and Duncan in "Paintball Deer Hunter". XD His optimism and friendly nature also provides an excellent contrast to many of the more cutthroat competitors in the game, making for some other funny moments. Besides humor, Owen has shown himself to be quite resourceful or even hard to beat in some challenges -- including taking many of the dares successfully in "I Triple Dog Dare You!" and making himself a human squeegee to get his team and the Sisters the win in "Hello and Dubai" -- helping make him a serious competitor to take on or have on a team. The part of Owen's character that I adore most though is his faithfulness and loyalty to his best friends. Whether as a teenager or a toddler, Owen cares deeply about being helpful to and having fun with others -- especially Noah. He's proven to be quite a helpful and supportive ally for the know-it-all -- from giving him helpful advice with Emma in episodes like "New Beijingings" and "I Love Ridonc & Roll" to choosing to help him get into Mili-Tots in "Inglorious Toddlers", really allowing Owen's helpfulness shine through. This has also been seen with other characters -- like buddying up with Kitty to play matchmakers in "Hello and Dubai", offering to throw a party for the others with his winnings in "The Very Last Episode, Really?" and saving his classmates from a giant snowball in "Snow Way Out" to name others.

Overall, I think Owen is an excellent character; he's a spirited, fun-loving oaf with some comedic value, surprising resourcefulness and he's a faithful friend to those around him.

*Note: all of the images in this collage were printed before the PSU campus largely closed off. Sorry if this appears a little muggy; it looked clearer on my smartphone than it does on my computer.

And that does it for this collage. Please be sure to politely leave your thoughts in the comments below. While I'd normally say to stay tuned for future VT birthday collages, I'm now facing a slump of uncertainty. While the PSU campus' library is still open with ID access, I haven't been at the facility once this month to print out pictures. I'd like to get there with some sort of excuse to go, but I don't know if I'll be able to get more images for VT birthday collages. I'll provide an update if any developments come up. Anyway, I'll see you around.

The Total Drama franchise was created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch, and belongs to Fresh TV Inc., Cake Entertainment, Corus Entertainment, Teletoon and Cartoon Network. Info on the voice talent mentioned above came from respective sources.
