She looks very petite, but she's very powerful. Lapis have immense power over water and liquid material. She is capable of forming water into various constructs that she can control. (The platform on the background of this pic is the full ocean from earth.)

Her story was tragic: she was imprisoned within a magical mirror for thousands of years until she eventually convinced Steven to free her. When Lapis returned to Homeworld, she was forced into helping to defeat/capture the Crystal Gems. Jasper coerces Lapis to fuse into Malachite in order to fight the Crystal Gems. However, she double-crossed Jasper by using her power to control the water and imprison both of them at the bottom of the ocean. Now she's no longer being fused with Jasper and lives with Peridot together on a barn.

Her german voice actor is Anja Stadlober. She speaks also Ashley Spinelli (Disney's Recess), Hayley Smith (American Dad) and Marceline (Adventure Time).
