Description
He lay looking at the sky, his hand clasped with ____________'s. His first year at Hogwarts had been wonderful.
"Severus?" she asked, her big eyes shining up at him. He glanced down at her.
"Yes?" he asked impatiently.
"Are you really my friend?" Her question was barely audible, but it was heard.
He opened his mouth to say something, but James Potter cut him off. "Well if Snivellus hasn't found a friend?"
Sirius laughed. "He hasn't got a friend; she's being paid, I'm sure."
Peter jeered from behind, while Remus chose to look at a fascinating, non-existant bird flying above.
"I'm his friend," she protested.
"Idiot Snivellus has charmed her hasn't he?" Sirius taunted.
"I have not!" Severus shouted.
"Don't lie to yourself, Snivellus. Who would even dream of being your friend?" James sneered.
"I would," ___________ snapped, taking Severus' hand again. "Come on Severus."
"I don't need your help," he yelled, jerking his hand away. "Stop being so stupid. You're not my friend."
__________ stepped back, feeling her throat tighten. She turned away and ran off.
"Knew it!" James snickered, before running off with his friends.
Severus let out a frustrated yell. He had to find ____________.
But he didn't want to.
The next few days were a blur.
He ran into her, literally, leaving his Potions class. She grabbed her nose and yelped as the blood trickled from it.
"I'll take you to the infirmary," he said stonily, taking her hand.
"Severus I'm dizzy." She fainted and slammed her head against the hard floor. Severus sighed and cast a simple levitating spell, and she followed as he walked. He received a few strange glances, but other than that he was relatively unaffected by what had just occurred.
However when she lay against the cold sheets, eyes closed and hair masking her dainty features, she looked so fragile.
She stirred after a while. She smiled when she saw him at the foot of her bed, almost wanting to take his hand, but then she remembered what had happened. "Severus, I'm really sorry-"
"Don't apologize, idiot."
She closed her eyes again and turned away from him.
"I should apologize," he said heatedly. "If you want to, we can be friends."
She smiled faintly and took his hand. "Thanks for getting me here. When Madame Pomfery was fixing me up she was saying something about a 'crazy talented Slytherin boy with a funny nose'. I knew it was my Sev."
He blushed slightly before nodding. "Is my nose really that funny?"
"I like your nose Severus!" she beamed before tapping it. "It suits you."
"T-Thanks. I like your eyes." He was flustered by her. How could she have forgiven him for his behavior and then acted like nothing had happened at all so easily?
"Your eyes are nice too," she murmured, glancing into those dark pools of ebony. Suddenly she leaned forward and kissed him briefly. She quickly turned away again, burying her face in her pillow.
"We're not friends, anymore," he said, smiling smugly. "I can tell Potter I have a lady love now." She smiled but he couldn't tell, and when she finally fell asleep, he said quietly, "But I guess you mean more than just telling that stupid Potter boy off. Much much more."
