(Severus Snape X Reader) Hogwarts Love

You were a professor at Hogwarts, you taught Charms. You loved Charms and you were also the Charms Master at Hogwarts. You were happy with your job, you had a wonderful staff to work with, and you loved kids and working with them and getting to enrich their minds each day. Dumbledore was a fantastic Headmaster in your opinion as well. And, if any of the kids became famous you would be able to tell your family and friends you knew them. It was really great, and your friends were kind of jealous that you got to teach Harry Potter, since he was just starting his first year of Hogwarts! Everything was perfect, except one thing.

You had somehow fallen in love with the cold, black haired, black eyed man that taught potions, Professor Severus Snape. You had met him once Deumbledore had hired him, and soon had fallen for him. He was the silent type, but you found his voice when he did speak rather captivating. He seemed to be hiding something, but everyone had their secrets.

It was the first day of the school semester, you had gotten there a couple days earlier to clean and dust from the long vacation. You were at the table, sitting next to Severus and gave him a big smile.

“Hello Severus” you said. He looked you over a bit before answering.

“hello, [y/n]” he said coolly. Why did he always seem to hate everyone?

“today, Harry Potter is coming to Hogwarts” you said rather bubbly. A dark, grim expression came on his face and his dark eyes seemed to get darker.

“I know” he said darkly. You raised an eyebrow at that and gently put your hand on his.
“whats the matter, Sev?” you asked softly. He always complained about you calling him that, but you had a feeling (or well, you hoped) he secretly liked it. He frowned.
“Stop calling me that” he said and didn’t answer your question, and he also moved his arm away. You frowned and looked down a bit. It really seemed like your love was in vain. You wondered if he was capable of love.

He seemed to see how upset you were and sighed. “nothing is wrong, [y/n]” he mumbled. Well you didn’t really believe him, but at least he answered you! You nodded a bit and decided to drop the subject.

“Well, I hope this is a good year, it feels like it” you said opptomiticly. He frowned.
“What makes it any different from any other year?” he asked. You thought with a smile.
“Well… I don’t know, just something about it, you know?” you asked, but it was a lie. This was the year you were going to make your feelings for the closed off professor known.

Then the sorting began. Everytime someone was sorted into Hufflepuff, you cheered with your table. You were a very proud, typical happy Hufflepuff and were also glad to have more added! You didn’t think there was much special about you other then the fact you were so optimistic and happy all the time. You wondered if yoou could have your happiness rub off onto the seemingly grumpy potions professor.

Soon, the feast began. You ate happily and looked at Severus.
“Do you like your food, Sev?” you asked. He sighed.
“Why must you insist on calling me that?” he asked. You smiled a bit, hey progress right?
“Well I think it suits you better… its short and sweet and kind of cute, much better then a long drawn out and very serious name like Severus. Sev and Sevy, its cute.” You said and blushed a bit. He didn’t say anything for the rest of dinner. You wondered what you said wrong.

The next day at breakfast you sat next to Severus again. “Good morning Sevy!” you said happily. He frowned at you again.
“Morning” he mumbled. You decided to shake it off and smile at him. You were trying to think of something good natured and happy to say, maybe about how wonderful of a nice and shinny day it was when suddenly something interrupted your thoughts.

“[y/n]… did you mean what you said last night?” Severus asked. You looked at him.
“Well I think so… about what?” you asked. He didn’t look at you directly.
“Nevermind” he mumbled. You frowned at that. He glanced at you and frowned. “you never frown, whats wrong?” he asked. You were a bit startled. He never sounded concerned.
“just… you never open up or anything ive been trying for years” you said sounding for once in your life, a little upset. His facial expression didn’t change. You sighed and went back to eating.

You didn’t talk to him for the rest of the day, since you had classes. At dinner, for once you didn’t sit next to him. You couldn’t tell if he was saddened by your move or not. He always had that same look!

But you couldn’t help it, the next day you were sitting next to him again. You talked as normal to him. And you did so for the rest of the year. Soon, it was the last day of class and you still hadn’t told him. All throughout the last feast of the year, you debated telling him. All year you had tried to drop hints, calling him cute, trying to get him to open up to you, going on walks with him (well you forcing him to), and such. And still, nothing, he had never once opened up to you. He never even changed his facial expression. You didn’t say a word to him the entire meal.

Unbeknownst to you, this worried him deeply. You, god knows, was never quiet. You never even frowned. So by you, not talking to you, and not even smiling, really made him worry.

You ate quietly and watched as he got up at the end and headed to his chambers. You sighed a bit. You finished and headed to yours.

You couldn’t really sleep all night. You tossed and turned. You had promised yourself. Now, were you really going to go back on that promise? You had to tell him. So, even though it was… you checked the time. It was one in the morning! Oh bother, well you got up anyway and headed to Severus’s chambers. You got there and knocked rather loudly, in hopes of waking him up. A few moments passed and the door quietly opened to reveal the dark man. Sheesh the guy even had black pjs, while you were sanding there practically wearing a rainbow! He looked at you.

“[y/n], it is past curfew, what are you doing here?” he asked, his dark voice sounding rather perplexed. You took a deep breath.

“well at the beginning of this year I promised myself I would do this and I haven’t yet all year and well I cant go home tomorrow having not done it. Il never be able to forgive myself for going back on my promise! You always need to keep a promise! Especially one to yourself. So Severus I am here to finally, after years of trying to get you to open up to me, with all my efforts being in vain, trying to get you to look at me a different way then you look at everyone and everything else, that I indeed am madly in love with you and I don’t know why I had to fall s head over heal for you since no matter how hard I try I will never be anything to you” you said, rambling quiet a bit in your speech, and then you leaned forward and gave him a quick peck on the lips before turning.

You didn’t hear him say anything, nor did you say another word.

The next day, you were rather proud of yourself for actually having the courage so to tell Severus you loved him. But you were dismayed in thinking that nothing would change now. Not even in a bad way like your friendship being ruined. You sighed and got your bags ready and headed to the train.

You got there and were putting your bags on the train when suddenly there was a hand on your arm. You glanced up and were surprised to find Severus there. You straightened up and looked at him.

“Hello, Professor Snape” you said formally. He still had the same old look he always did as he stared at you.

“good day, professor. I have something to tell you” he said. You frowned. What could he possibly have to tell you? That you were no longer friends? You nodded a bit and waited for him to continue. “when I was younger, back while I was a student in Hogwarts, I fell in love with a girl. Deeply, head over heals as you put it. But she chose an arrogant man that bullied me. I hated him. His name was Potter. She died. I never thought I would, or could, love another. To this day I still love her deeply. But she is the past… and now theres a woman, who is beautiful, and so happy its annoying, but she loves me. And I think I love her too” he said.

You had tears coming down your cheeks, since it was such a sad story in your eyes. Even though you loved him, you wanted him to be happy so you wished that, who had deduced was Lily Potter, had chosen him. You barely even noticed the last thing he said until a moment or two later. You wiped your eyes.

“you do?” you asked softly. He nodded and slowly leaned down and kissed you gently and quickly pulled away. You were shocked to find he looked kind of embarrassed. But you couldn’t care less, bout the people around or anything. You threw your arms around him and pulled him into a passionate kiss.

He didn’t kiss back immediately but soon did and wrapped his arms around your waist. He was actually smiling a bit when you pulled away from each other.

“thank you” you whispered. He frowned a bit.
“For what?”
“For finally opening up, im rather happy with the result” you said with a little giggle and kissed him again.
