As work on my oil paintings, I'm finding the drying times aren't as extreme as what I thought. The underpainting is probably dry enough to add another layer over the top without making mud after probably just one or two days, but I still think those blue shop towels are a good idea if you want to work quickly but still maintin a more traditional style. Wet-on-wet is great but it requires a lot of patience and subtlety, but I possess neither of those. This came out pretty well except for the reflections in the lake water; those got a bit muddy. Remember kids; pplan out your painting before you start slapping things in. I didn't expect to put water in this and so had no clear gel on the bottom of the picture when I got to it.....insert sad face here.
