Gorgeous representations of very well loved characters! Have you considered grappling with that so rarely caught pairing of black-robed Raist and Crysania? You really caught that dynamic of the twins!

It's from Dragonlance books by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

I like the colouring and the art concept which show one of the aspects of the twins's relationship. I love your work so much!

I never considered Caramon un-intelligent. He simply knew how to solve most of his problems with a well placed axe. If he couldn't kill it or eat it, he simply didn't care enough to think about it usually. Besides, he knew that Raistlin's place in their duo was "the smart wizard brother". Β Blessed with all the looks and all the muscle, Caramon simply didn't feel the need to show off his own intelligence. Plus, he trusted Flint and Tanis' judgment on most things.

SPOILER:
When Raistlin thought that Caramon had mastered a degree of magical power during his Test, he responded with murderous rage. Caramon saw that and also must have also considered his physically weaker brother's feelings even at a young age. Raistlin himself even knew Caramon wasn't as stupid as he acted. When in the presence of Emperor Ariakas, an extremely powerful battle mage, Raistlin was reminded of a dark reflection of Caramon. As if Caramon had been given the drive and ruthlessness of his sibling.Β

I say Caramon wasn't as simple minded as people think he was. His intellect only paled because he was constantly in the blazing light of Raistlin's genius. Would love to pick Weis and Hickman's thoughts on that.

Ah Caramon, ever the big doting, buffoon of a brother. Β But what a guy to have around in a fight.

He wasn't a total dock to Bupu.
But that may be within the statistical margin of error.

Yep, forgot about Bupu - those were really sweet moments. He also was a pretty nuce kid before Trial.

I have a pair of twins in my family (my mom and her sibling) who have a very similar dynamic to Caramon and Raistlin. I've witnessed this relationship over several decades, so I understand Raistlin better than a lot of people, I think. I've always been in his camp, even though I certainly don't condone all of his actions. Being "the smaller, weaker, sickly one" can really take its toll on a person, and cause them to look for other ways to feel important and valid. And being smothered over a lifetime - no matter how well-intentioned - does not make for a healthy family relationship.

Raistlin was kind to Bupu because she was an underdog, and she took a lot of crap from the world for no other reason than because of what she was. He took pity on her for that. Also, that scene in Soulforge where his mother is dying - ugh, it gets me every time! Raistlin is by far and away my favorite Β Β character of all time, though I'm a fan of anti-heros in general. Few people (in real life) are truly as uncomplicated as Caramon. Frankly, he would get on my nerves too!

I had the old solo-adventure book, The Soulforge once, speaking of the trial. Some continuity errors but otherwise fun.
