In that entire cultural area, India, China, Japan...all that Oriental area, Buddhism is one of THE biggest religions over there. (Right along side Hinduism). Buddhism is bigger in China and Japan, thus the symbol probably originated from the Buddhist religion influence in Japan.

Just a few things, not really important but the kind of irk me:
1. His curse mark is an x, here it looks like a, well, Swastika. (pardon me if I spelled it wrong)
2. The lines coming from the X are somewhat opposites. The loop from one should be up, the other should be down
But this is just wonderful! I never really thought about Neji doing his hair up XD
