Description Quick foling around with photoshop while listening to John William's original Superman score...

I've always thought that Superman's arrival on earth should have been something really epic, and extremely religious: it's not by chance that in his authors' minds he was the actual Messiah, even if they didn't fully know that (Superman's surely a Christologic figure, so to speak) in the beginning.

He came from another world to deliver us from evil and crime, what else do you need

Anyway, apart from the technique i was experimenting, here's little Kal-El climbing out of his ship's impact site, with his future Superman costume too big for his little but strong body.

A new era has just begun.

I'm not much of a Superman fan, but this is off the hook. Don't suppose you like Batman enough to do one of when Bruce Wayne's destiny became that of eventually becoming the Batman?

actually dood check it lol ... supe's was written out by some jewish guys and originally he was a supervillian ! -- check the history.

and also with the expanded cannon thats been permitted its seen that jor-el actually spent time on earth intentionally and initially as a form of punishment to teach him... i think the word is humility he found the kents and they treated as such with the best intentions that is embodied by both american traditions and human kindness when his planet was dying he knew where to send his only son !

I know that, about the Siegel/Shuster history and his origins as a supervillain and all (that's what I meant when I wrote "even if the didn't fully know it yet", about his potential as a messianic allegory).

One of the many interpretation you can give to Supes' character is a symbolic figure of a savior of the oppressed Jews, emanation of God itself. As I'm saying, it's just one of the interpretations and it can be different if you follow different canons and currents in his long editorial life. I pretty much loved the overall tone of the first Superman movie and the one in "Superman Returns", and they both widely stick to the Messianic figure of Superman.

And, by the way, I prefer Batman!

No hard feelings

this is the way it goes...

superman was what humanity hopes to aspire to - he is the end result of the best of what humanity has to offer he was raised by the average persons whom were if nothing else of beyond the norm in sense of compassion and intellect. they raised him with the best aspects of humanity. supes is a part time heroic borderline messianic figure
(only cause humans are stupids and will worship anything that sposedly falls from the sky -even if its obviously technologically based)
by scale of abilities and evolution he is certainly higher in scale than humans but he is still an organic being whose chemical and genetic setup permits him to be charged by yellow solar energy and other solar energies change this.

now in regards to batman he's the wholly opposite in some aspects he's not the worst of what humanity has to offer he's the orphaned son - he thought he didnt have a choice, he choose to become the batman, the mission - the protector, the Dark Knight! he isnt just batman nor more than a marine is just a marine what he is, is something more , he is legend , he is the night he is BATMAN.... lol
"I AM BATMAN" - its a powerful concept, emotionally dissociative from people as a whole due to the trauma of witnessing his parents murder first hand - survivors guilt , he became more than what his parents were , he really tested himself and in a sense of penance punishes himself by being the batman for the fact that he survived and his parents didnt - again he is something to aspire to the character to be incorruptible to be something more than just a man thats emotionally disturbed from the world.

these hero's are more than the acts they do , its what they represent - wether some see a messianic figure , a boyscout that does whats right all the time even when pushed to insurmountable extremes.
or the darker orphaned son, seeking to justify his life and redeem himself for something he had no control over - they choose to do what few do
to be the change they wanted to see in the world.

However... He's a great cover artist, but I think he's a TERRIBLE narrator and comic artist... I love his works, as long as they are illustration, when he goes into making pages he's kinda heavy and his detailed works are really slow pacing the reading
