Description Flagellatanagra rosea is a bizarre seed-eater, with few close relatives. Females build the pouch-like nest, which are then used as a launching pad by prospective males. If the hen accepts her suitor, she will allow him to enter her nest, rather than drive him off. The male also incubates the pink eggs.
It was once thought that F. rosea was one of the egg hosts of the paradisostrunnid Gymnostrunnops coraxiodes. However, it is now known that the female G. coraxiodes simply has a marked fondness for raiding F. rosea's nests.

The female Bald-Headed Paradise Crow is the more active nest raider, while the male is more shrike-like in habit.

Ah, shrikes! Speaking of shrikes, I was asking one of my co-workers if she'd seen any shrikes in the area, and she saw one at the nearby baylands park. I'm still looking...

Yes, I've been looking for their tell-tale signs...perhaps on one of my rare free days, I can go and search...On the hunt for the Loggerhead shrike!

Maybe I can scan it for you later.

Thank you! That would be greatly appreciated; I get all excited when I see a potential shrike, but it then turns out to be a mockingbird instead.

Ouch.
One of the ultimate disses, being mocked by a mockingbird.

Yes, too many times have they made a mockery of me...

Not to mention "To Kill A Mockingbird" offered no useful information for killing mockingbirds, too.
