Bio: A descendant of the legendary Croatoan Mentor Kahente, Chaytan was born and raised to be an Assassin. He grew up always looking up to his parents, especially his loving father, a strong warrior of the Oglala Lakota. It was from his father that he learned to hunt and kill, and was also taught in the philosophies of the Creed and their conflict with the Templars, whom often sided with the militant Americans seeking to steal their lands. On Chaytan’s tenth birthday, his father rode out with his fellow warriors under the leadership of Chief Red Cloud to fight American armed forces seeking to arrest a Lakota man accused of killing a settler’s cow. In the ensuing fight, which would come to be known as the Grattan Massacre, Chaytan's father was shot in the chest and off his horse by the Americans, and he died before he hit the ground. While the day was won and all the Americans were killed, Chaytan was devastated. He and his mother arrived at the scene hours after the battle to recover the body, and a heartbroken Chaytan was given his father's necklace, an heirloom that once belonged to Kahente herself. Chaytan swore to carry on his father's legacy and take up arms to defend his people from the ruthless Americans and the Templars that used them as their puppets.

Chaytan would find it difficult to maintain his allegiances over the following decades. The First Dakota War broke out in 1862, after the United States government failed to pay the tribes their annual compensation as promised. Chaytan rallied with his fellow warriors during an attack on the village of New Ulm, but quickly fled in disgust when the warriors began killing civilians indiscriminately. This event left him in deep mental turmoil for many nights, until Chief Red Cloud helped him find a personal solution. Chaytan realized the only way to bring true freedom and peace to his people was if they won the wars honorably, and he decided he and his Assassin brethren must immediately cut ties with any faction, Native or white, that spilt innocent blood, just as the Assassin Connor had done almost a century prior. The Dakota War ended in 1864 after the Battles of Killdeer Mountain and the Badlands. The Americans won out and forced the Natives farther off their lands, forcing them to relocate north into the Black Hills of the Dakota Territory.

By 1866, war had broken out between Red Cloud’s men and the forces of the US. Chaytan hunted the American Templars throughout the Wyoming, Dakota, and Montana Territories, with the help of various Chiefs like Red Cloud, Crazy Horse, and Sitting Bull, until Native victory was finally proclaimed in 1868. The Americans signed a treaty agreeing to leave the lands and return it to its rightful Native owners. However, this treaty would be broken less than a decade later. In 1876, American miners began to dig up the scared Black Hills looking for gold (and their Templar backers looking for Pieces of Eden). This unacceptable action triggered another war against the Lakota, and Chaytan took up arms yet again. The threat of US General George Armstrong Custer was his first top priority, and Chaytan, teaming up with his new friend, Assassin paleontologist Evelyn Arlie, worked to bring him down. Evelyn’s assistance earned her the loyalty of Chaytan, and the two began to support each other on their adventures, becoming a team for the rest of their days. Chaytan assisted Evelyn in her search for the Scythe of Eden so that they could keep it out of the hands of Templar Joseph Leidy during the Bone Wars.

In the meantime, unfair policies continued to plague the Lakota, eventually culminating in the Ghost Dance War of 1890. Sitting Bull was arrested and killed when it was heard he was rallying support against the American advancement, causing mayhem and violence against the US military forces. This culminated in the brutal Wounded Knee Massacre, a sight that left Chaytan horrified, as dozens of innocents were killed by American guns. Native resistance was effectively dead by January, with many confining themselves to the Reservations. While disheartened, Chaytan continued his fight against the Templars with Evelyn. The two travelled around the world to fight their enemies, even going to the Dutch East Indies in 1894 to assist Dutch paleontologist Eugene Dubois with the help of Indonesian Assassin Apsarini Rajawali. Chaytan’s daughter Winona was born later that year. In later years, their travels would take them to Egypt and Mongolia through the 1910s and 1920s. The two eventually settled down on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where Chaytan would pass away in 1933. His great-grandaughter Wanbli would later continue his legacy during the Red Power Movement in the 1960s and 70s.
