Description Millions of years ago Irthiron was a volcanic island chain, stretching out from the northwest corner of the ancient continent of Pharetria. Now those ancient thunder-mountains are almost all extinct, but the landscape is as rugged and beautiful as can be found, covered with ancient craters and dolerite plains. The surviving monotremes, like the wooly jumbuck and the Irthironian Demon, have made quite a name for themselves here, even as on the mainland they became doomed to isolated niches as Pharetria became part of the modern continent of Pelia.
The Joola Mountains were volcanic, once upon a time, but the peaks have been sculpted into shape by ice and rain. Forests of mushroom trees, their trunks coated with spore-bodies (some delicious and some deadly) and their fan-like leaves stretching high, carpet the lower slopes. Just in front, although it's difficult to see, is Lake Loora and (across the lake) the small town of Cwyredael-on-Loora, a prime spot for summer vacations. (The local bakery does some delicious potato scones with apple-berry preserve.)
