Originally introduced as a character in Mutant & Masterminds "Albright Institute" campaign on the ATT.

Sean O'Toole was exposed to a mutagenic energy of extra-terrestrial origin. When the alien energy was finished wreaking havoc on his body, he found himself cursed to be a being of fiery ionized plasma, very much like a humanoid sun. A team of scientists created a harness that suppresses his powers, allowing him to continue to live a relatively normal life. The harness is equipped with a switch on the front which looks much like a sundial. This switch allows him to deactivate the harnesses suppression field, unleashing his solar fury.

When powered up, Sean's body transforms into a gaseous, humanoid shaped cloud of flaming plasma. He emits heat, light and radiation that he can use for offensive and defensive purposes. Since his powers are primarily destructive, he tends to keep them suppressed most of the time. When he uses his powers in the atmosphere, he is careful not to generate so much heat he actually ignites the air itself. His default temperature is 5000 degrees Celsius, so he consciously minimizes his combustion. Still, even at minimum temperatures, he burns too hot for normal people to approach. He burns far too hot to be extinguished in by water. His plasma form allows him to project streams of flaming plasma or radiant heat. He can fly. Since he is a gaseous mass, physical objects not destroyed by his fiery corona pass right through him. Sean has never generated his maximum heat, since for normal humans that could easily end up an extinction level event.

Unfortunately, Sean suffers from bi-polar depression and when off his medication has gone a rampage from which he had to be stopped. While not precisely a hero, Sean regrets any destruction he has caused. However his sheer capacity for carnage has made him a popular target for villains with a talent for mind control and a penchant for terrorism.
