Actually, many believe that the Flintstones was based upon, or perhaps inspired by, the 1950s series "The Honeymooners" [link]
And you can certainly see a heck of a lot of similarities in the personalities and episode-to-episode situations...even if Ralph Cramden (the lead from "The Honeymooners") is a city bus driver instead of a quarryman (as Fred Flintstone is)...and Alice Cramden (his wife) is rather more acerbic and blunt than Wilma Flintstone ever was (though both women are strong female types...bucking the odds even of the 1950s homemaker which so many feminists think is demeaning).
Good stuff! The Honeymooners are classic!
