I looked at Supercars.net because I couldn't quite remember what Doc Simeone said. The 2300 cc supercharged engine puts out about 145-150HP, and the top speed is somewhere around 115 Miles an hour.
Keep in mind the car was built for endurance racing, it's the long wheelbase version to meet LeMans regulations, and the car had to be able to withstand 24 hours of racing. Cars like this one won LeMans for 4 years straight from 1931 to 1934. The more aerodynamic and even more technologically advanced LeMans winning Bugatti 57T from 1938 was only capable in LeMans trim of about 130MPH top speed.

115 mph? not badΒ
I don't understand how people could race for 24 hours. They would all get triedΒ

2 Drivers in that era. It wasn't easy. I believe by that time at least they had the message board area and phone lines at the Muslanne corner to signal drivers at the far end of the track where the cars were going around 20 miles an hour.
The race was conceived to be a real test of automotive technology and reliability, and it still is today. Many manufacturers over the decades have really made their reputations at LeMans- Bentley, Alfa, Ferrari, Aston-Martin, Ford, Porsche, MATRA, Audi to name but a few.

Do a web search for LeMans Radio, they run year around and have some nice interviews and articles if you're interested. Also in the US and Canada we have the IMSA/TUDOR Championship, just had the 24 hours of Daytona and 12 hours of Sebring. Lots of good endurance racing in the US, the GT class may interest you since Viper, Corvette, BMW, Porsche, and Audi are all very active in it.
