Description
The main claim to fame for the M3Lee was its extensive Lend-Lease use with the Soviets. Some were also used in the Desert with the British Army, but the Grant variant was far more common.

In Soviet service, it was known as the "Three Story Tank" and "Seven Graves for Seven Brothers".

At the beginning of the War, the US had the M2 Medium, which this is based on. They didn't have a large enough turret ring to stick the 75mm gun in, so they stuck the sponson on and left the Turret with the 37mm cannon.

Despite all the Soviet grousing, it was better than nothing and was good enough until Shermans started flowing in. When the Grant was introduced to the Desert, it proved to be more than a match for most Panzers in spite of its various disadvantages such as the riveted construction and ridiculous height.
