Description
In the making of “Dry Thoughts’ I aimed to further explore the idea and concept of
memories and how such precious things that make us... us can be forgotten overtime
without conscious awareness of such a removal. The overall artwork was made
and comprised of a number of programs such as world machine (For height-map and
terrain generation), Terragen 4 (For quick conceptual landscape renders), Photoshop
(For image editing a post production) and lastly blender (For rendering, modelling,
compositions and post processing). The meanings and messages of this can
be interpreted differently among viewers although the generalized idea of decay
and corruption is apparent through the dessert consuming the green landscape. The
deeper meaning behind this consumption is that time slowly and eventually turns
living things like us and our memories to dust (to nothing). The sand symbolizes the
scattered fragments and remains of memories. The over sized whitehead plants symbolize
clumps of memories that our mind keeps together in order to help recognize
patterns, a method of critical thinking, puzzles and problem solving. The yellows
flowers represent memories that are happy and precious that we look back on and
cherish. The overall idea that relates to all the symbolism and metaphors simply
sum to a visual representation of Alzheimer's disease however everyone including
myself experiences some form of memory loss and has their own desert slowly
building up in their heads as time goes on.
