Description Old Baghdad is where you see life, culture and history on full display. You can also see people selling old artifacts and things related to older parts of the history of Iraq. Here I took an example where one stand was selling pictures and portraits of the old Iraqi Royal Family. The Hashemites come from Hejaz and ruled the Kingdom of Iraq from 1921 to 1958 and are descendants of the Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him. The Royal Family is regarded as a relic of an older and simpler time in Iraq where the nation felt like it was advancing. This is done to preserve history and the Iraqi people never forget history and due to modern-day conditions, our attachment to our culture and history has never been stronger. The images are also edited and photoshopped into other backgrounds to give tributes to the old Royal Family and are sometimes colored. In this image we see five historically important figures:

-In the black and white photo top right, we see the first King of Iraq, King Faisal I in Arab clothing. Wearing a Bisht, Shemagh with flower patterns, a Royal Agal and possibly a Dishdasha.

-The one with the biggest photo is the second King of Iraq, King Ghazi who's reign was shorter and infamous. Known for being an anti-imperialist and his mysterious death in a car crash.

-On the left you can see two images of him and on the right bottom is one image, this is King Faisal II and the last of the Kings of Iraq. He's known as a beloved King and is usually the symbol of the old relics of Iraq. You can see one of the pictures with a text in Arabic that reads "Peace be upon him."

-On the left of the large King Ghazi picture, you can see Regent Abd al-ilah who was the Regent of the young King Faisal II during World War II and it's aftermath. He was the Crown Prince for a while.

-On top of the black and white image (Which is an image of a child Faisal II) is an image of Abd al-Karim Qasim, a controversial character but is still seen as an old relic of a bygone era. He was the one who overthrew the Monarchy and established a Republic.

A branch of the Hashemites still rule the Kingdom of Jordan to this day.
