It played out awesomely, yet still to what was expected for the series. You know, an incredibly badass fight in a series filled to the brim with badass fights.
Then came the last 5 minutes and expectations went out the window as I sat in disbelief that oh yes, I really hadn't just been seeing things that weren't there since Book 3 and something that I had always had a voice saying "They'll never do it" totally happened.
So here I am, a month later. Still celebrating.

I truthfully watched most of the first season and then the last episode of the last season
I was like, fuck yeah! Shit bag Mako gets no one! But then I warmed up to the actual idea of the couple and I think they're pretty adorbs together

Not in favor of bashing him at all. Was he kind of "eh" in the first season? Yes. However, he greatly improves not being involved in a love triangle in the last two seasons, but is still actually rather superfluous to the cast dynamic without the role of love interest and I still like him least of the main characters. More so because the other three are just so much more interesting (granted, from people I actually talked to I was the only one who stayed true through the entire series, but the last two seasons really reward you for sticking with it through the first two).
Still, though. I can laugh at him being the group's Butt Monkey who ends up alone (and being such a bad boyfriend that both his exes found they liked each other more) without going into character bashing.
Sorry for the rant. I just don't enjoy character bashing, no matter how minor.
I do love this couple though. Funny. I became a sailor on the ship more out of dissatisfaction with how the romance was going in the first two seasons than anything else (although reading the creator's comments, I can forgive the 2nd season as they were working towards breaking them up at the end of it. No excuse for the 1st season though, that they dropped the ball).
