Elendur ("Servant of the Stars", Quenya) was born in SA 3299 in Númenor as the eldest son of Isildur. Following the Akallabêth, he stayed by his father's side and fought alongside him in the War of the Last Alliance. After the Battle of Dagorlad, he accompanied Isildur into Mordor, while his brothers were sent to Minas Ithil. However, he wasn't present at the final confrontation with Sauron. In TA 2, Isildur and his three eldest sons left Gondor for Rivendell, passing Dagorlad and following the Anduin to Amon Lanc. From there, they followed old Sylvan paths on the eaves of Greenwood. On 5 October, when they were at the Gladden Fields, the company was attacked by Orcs coming from the Misty Mountains, but led by servants of Barad-dûr. Elendur urged his father to flee - even though the shards of Narsil had been sent away, Isildur still bore the Elendilmir, a jewel passed down from Princess Silmariën, and the One Ring. Ciryon was dead and Aratan dying, and orcs were overrunning their forces. Isildur eventually fled, and Elendur assumed command of the remaining warriors. None survived.
