I like her shoes. :3
I don't know where my strange obsession with your figments' shoes came from.
And her cloths look really sparkly!

I have a friend named Zoe. And, based on this picture alone, it looks as if they have similar personalities.
Even if that's not the case, I still look forward to meeting her (and to spoilers =3)!
Again with the dynamic poses! I love them!

Curious as to what you mean by "shounen" -- any examples of things for me to think about when I sit down to draw next? Chances are, I'm doing things I don't realize until someone mentions them.

A "shounen" anime or manga style is something like Slayers (which your style was a very feminine Slayers back in the day), Escaflowne, Gundam Wing, or Trigun, when it comes to how the characters are drawn. A Shoujo style would usually mean more feminine figures (both on males and females), with more emphasis on the eyes, like what you see from CLAMP, Naoko Takeuchi, or in Fruits Basket.
The style usually goes hand in hand with the targeted audience when you get into genres, but just as a basic style, yours has more of the Escaflowne sharpness. This may be due to the fact that you ink your lines on the computer, which gives them a sharper, harder feel.

Wow, can't wait to meet her in Wayrift. I don't know why, but I sense utter hilarity when she enters the picture. Probably something to do with Kory? Who knows?
You just love abstract backgrounds don't you? Not that that's a problem: your really good at them. Overall, this is yet another fantastic work.
P.S. No interwebs all day on a Saturday? No! I would die if that happened to me.

Oh... and for the background -- I really just didn't know what to do for it once I got to that point. I had spent a lot of time on inking for this piece and experimental coloring, so I was just too tired to do something more official. XD
I didn't want to really put anything back there because this was more of a character study and wasn't meant to be something big and fancy. But leaving it plain white didn't seem right either.

Really... that's about right. I need so much practice! I love the way you draw your women, btw. I wish I could draw feminine facial features like you do.

You just need practice, that's all. I now you can do it.

You do? Thanks! I have trouble with clothes most of the time, too. Hence why you see most of the figments in a pretty set style.
I did play around with Zoe's outfit more than I usually would. But since I had no interwebz at the moment of drawing this, I couldn't go online to google up models to draw from. :{

Designing clothes is not something I'm particularly good at. I need references for folds and everything. This is probably why my characters seem to wear pretty ordinary stuff. Despite the fact she's a princess, I draw Darianne with her simple but elegant bliauts more often than her sister Illiana, who favours really fancy gowns with frilly and lacey things, for example.
Or maybe that's more because Dee is one of my major characters whereas Illy is snobby, but not as important to the story.
The exception being Takara, who seems to have taken a liking to corsets, heeled boots, and cloaks lined with furs. I often get the urge to yell at her. Do you even know how difficult corsets are to draw? Urg, the lacing alone is giving me nightmares. As if having your very long and very dark hair in an elaborate braid wasn't enough...

Gosh... that does sound like a challenge.
I keep most of my clothes designs as simple as possible due to the fact of the nature of comics, whatever I design I will have to draw over and over and over and over and over again. And it needs to be consistent as possible.
I get to shake things up a little bit in outside drawings like these... though I'm only just finding time and inspiration to work on things like this. By the time I do, I'm so used to drawing simplistic clothing that it's hard to try something different, you know? XD

Thank you! She's a fun character to write -- now if only I could get her Dragon form design right! ^^
