So I see this and I'm like, "heh, that's some good snark. I'm really happy I follow this person." And you know I just thought you were being sarcastic, because I saw Fukari getting snarky when people were bitching about her art, but then I read the comments and I check my favs and I find that they truly, honestly did take down your art. I have one and only one comment for that: THAT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT! Oh, I'm so very sorry. See now I thought I was on a fucking ART website! I mean I don't know it's in your fucking name! So maybe I'm the one at fault here for believing that you could post art here and not worry about intrepid, cavalier, fuckheads derisively picking and choosing what's good and bad. Hey you wanna put up inflation art that shows no skill, no merit, no want or desire to take people's breathe away?! Oh and you wanna make your figure a girl from a fucking game aimed at children!? HEY WHY NOT?! But you know a beautiful piece of fucking art that shows knowledge and skill in color, principle's of design, lighting, and things that make art objectively good that gets taken down, right? Fuckin' RIGHT?! Like Sweet Christmas Tree on fucking Palatine Hill, what the God ferociously damned hell is that kind of bullshit?! That piece you made was something art student's should look at and ask themselves, "What did the artist do here that shows mastery levels of knowledge and what didn't they do, or what can be worked on?" It was a marvelous piece that you could learn from! How. Explain to me. FUCKING HOW that a piece having the audacity to show an aged up version of a character who was originally sixteen (which contrary to popular belief is the age of consent in the majority of the continent from whence this character's story came from) is greater than what that piece can teach people who want to be better at art?! Look my problem is that you're not helping by taking down the original piece. You're hurting. If it's a learned piece and people can talk about what they can learn from it that should supersede any kind of moral weird grey law about sex. It was tasteful. It was well done. It was clearly aged up. Most of all, it was learned. On an art sight art should be put above pettiness. Whatever, it's not like The Administration's gonna pay attention. They'd rather shove rocks in their ears and stab their thumbs into their eyes before thinking about what good art looks like. This is why Art Station is better than you Deviant Art! This right here? This is fucking why! Assholes.

Truly? That's a shame. I was hoping Art Station was more mature. Deviant Art hasn't really gone to the dogs, but the obscene amount of children are troublesome. It's not that they're bad people, quite the opposite, it's that they're young. They think they know best, and have yet to learn they know less than nothing. I would think people on Art Station, a site geared towards professionalism and artistic mastery, would be more open minded. Sad to see that's not so. In any event, I truly do appreciate your work and I think it's incredibly good. People who don't know art, don't know the struggle, don't know the nights of burning midnight oil, don't know the weeks and months of study, they don't understand why good art should be vaunted. They see a young character in a good movie and think that's special. Not so, dime a dozen. Many characters like that. But good art? That is special. That takes years of trial and error. Of falling and getting back up. I appreciate that you try to do your best. I defend that, that which I call the indomitable human spirit of creativity. The drive to never stop and never give up. No one should ever make you feel like your work is worthless or bad because it doesn't meet their moral standards. That is the first sign of a bigot. As a young novice artist, I have the honor and the esteem to comment on your work, which is far beyond my level. A level I may never reach, but the hope to reach it is greater than any feeling of despair. I have jabbered and filled this piece with my comments for long enough. Thank you for creating, truly.
(To clear up any confusion: When I say good art I mean art that shows mastery of the fundamentals of drawing such as The Principles of Design, Anatomy, Lighting, Color, and Perspective)

I agree and yes - people don't realize AOC is younger than they would sometimes like, or believe it to be. But since the idea of showing a sexualized Disney character (even one shown older than originally depicted) makes some people uncomfortable - this whole thing went down. There is so much ANIME porn on DA, it's ridiculous - most featuring teen characters. But no one says anything because it's anime and not Disney.
The art was clearly done in a tasteful, artful manner with great skill and artistic technique. It wasn't a vulgar pose with the camera up her butt or what not clearly created to put the character in a submissive or disrespectful pose (no different than SwimSuit magazines) .... like I've seen way too many images on here recently.

I agree with you, but on the anime note it's harder to judge that because there's the Lolicon Market, which I personally find morally reprehensible, but Japan has different cultural norms and a record low age of consent (13 actually, but it's illegal for anyone over 18 to copulate with a 13-17 year old). We also see this in a lot of Shonen fanservice (Cough Yoko Cough) and that too is rather uncomfortable. My point is there's a lot of grey areas with anime and showing characters under 18 in provocative manners. That is to say I don't think Anime Fanservice is anywhere near the level of AyyaSAP's work, especially considering the delightful tasteful cheesecake that was the original piece. My point is merely that different cultures and cultures from the past have widely varying levels of morally OK and fine. Lastly, and concerning my original point, I think as artist we should be more open minded and comfortable with art that pushes boundaries. Some boundaries shouldn't be pushed, yes, but I think if you truly want to be a great artist you have to get comfortable with things you've found uncomfortable in the past. That's why the blatant censorship of the original piece displeased me so. It was something to learn from and that is very important.

Very well said! I really wish more people could think and discuss more open-mindedly about these types of topics. But sadly - DA has become a place of trolling, hate, and fav-and-runs. It used to be a fantastic forum to work with and chat with other artists and share techniques and ideas and now it's so close-minded and usurped by fanarts, it's just not what it once was. I found so many like-minded people back in 2004 when I first joined and I have since lost many of those good friends over the years with the onslaught of people who just don't care that much about the artist behind the art.
I found the original piece to be in good taste. Artistic interpretation in good taste - regardless of what others thought or perceived. With art - your opinion is driven by your own personal mistakes, experiences, and opinions...

Depends when you catch me, honestly! Ah let's see, harmony between races would be nice. A big group of friends who truly enjoy my company and I there's. A healthy meal that tastes great, haven't had one in sometime you see. The right to shoot lightning at fools. Maybe a pretty girl, maybe. That's five sentences of things I want. All open and close. Was that all you wanted? Because if you're looking for an argument you won't find one here.

My thesis, key note, point, was that artistic mastery of fundamentals is more important than moralistic white knighting . The question I bring up is, "Are morals more important than knowledge when it is concerning art?" If that helps you read my passage better, alright. If it doesn't whatever. Regardless, I hope you have a nice day and I do apologize for any perceived rudeness.

Man, I feel bad. I'm an artist myself and I understand how you feel. I'm not the greatest but I understand. I saw another artist had to fix his/her stuff because people or DA was complaining about it. Smh, Art comes in all shapes and sizes. Clothing or no clothing. The original artwork was beautiful as it was. Keep doing what you do. Artist to Artist.

Hahaha! what happened here? Oh, I see it is the DA censorship which removes art with no warnings.
I know how it feels!
And I like what you do to keep your art online, also I love your art.
I just want to give you a little advise if you let me: Don't take it personal.
It is complicated I know, the effort, the feelings, your personallity and your art, printed in all the canvas, removed like this, it´s not fair.
But we have options, like what you do, slapping DA censorship with a white glove.
Sharing in other places, etc.
Now you have many people waiting for your next piece, count me like one of them.

Thanks for your determination and finding a way around the trolls! This is lovely work and should not be thrown into the dust and forgotten.
I’m struck by the motion of the water and the character’s joyful emotion. The work transcends objectifying and becomes a celebration of beauty.
As for the black-cloaked haters, I imagine them angrily cycling away to the cacophony of mad violins. So pitiful!
