"LOL"? God my eyes Hallelujah, you can draw. I'm sure Metal would like to commission you. You have those sketches still lying around, yes? Maybe? Hopefully?

Oooh, this isn't fair. You'll draw all this Megamind.exe stuff and nothing for a four-year old tradition? (That's right, FOUR YEARS.)

hmhm. Sonic (and everything related to him) has lost some fascination to me. I still like him, but... with the recent games... Sega is really letting me down.

And I know you love the movie, but this is Rockman/Megaman, not Megamind^^'

@$#( I knew I'd make that spelling mistake eventually, haha. XD

I wish there was a Grim Fandango meme. It's one thing to sigh over Jon Stewart, but with a character (Domino Hurley! ) I need an excuse like a meme to vent my emotions. I already get weird enough looks without taking a liking to fictional paper-mache skeletons!

But come on now, draw something for Metal and I, hmm?

Az-The-Dragon In reply to SpinningStarshine [2010-12-04 08:42:28 +0000 UTC]

Why donb't you create a meme for yourself and all the other fans of Grim Fandango?

Or you can do this one [link]

And yes. I have to draw something for you. I've been procrastinating way too long on that

SpinningStarshine In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-12-04 14:47:44 +0000 UTC]

Well there's an idea, but it would be heard to spread the idea around. Thanks for finding the meme, though! I didn't expect there to be one. It's inspiring me to improve my art skills (which have stagnated for the past 4 years... ), and that will happen over January term. Painting apprenticeship!

Mmhmm. Got something going for four years and never a scrap, and as soon as you switch your loyalties within a few weeks you're throwing out memes. 'Scuuuse me. [all in good fun.]

Az-The-Dragon In reply to SpinningStarshine [2010-12-05 14:03:34 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh! Painting apprenticeship! I wish I could attend one. At least to get past the whole "how I'm supposed to start drawing a human figure?" thing...

As for that... *shifting eyes* I'm trying to come up with something, but I'm not so sure I can do much more than what I've come up with *tries to be all misterious so it's a surprise*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinningStarshine In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-12-05 17:44:04 +0000 UTC]

I definitely need to work on anatomy, but I may start attending life drawing workshops for that. As for painting, I imagine myself doing something more abstract, like Paul Klee Tunisan

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to SpinningStarshine [2010-12-05 18:28:15 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh! That kind of painting.
I was never too attracted towards abstractionism. Especially the most recent stuff. It feels a lot like the artist threw the color on the canvas and said "this is a masterpiece" and everyone took it for gold.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinningStarshine In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-12-06 13:52:58 +0000 UTC]

I admit that with abstract artwork I view with the same skepticism, and I don't agree with the outrageous monetary value that's placed on some pieces. But abstract is a subtle art of color/contrast, shape/use of space, mood, etc...I think an effective piece of abstract art is incredibly difficult and that you have to acquire an appreciation for it. The piece that I showed you, for example, shows scenery and dimension without being entirely concrete. Breathtaking.

Az-The-Dragon In reply to SpinningStarshine [2010-12-06 15:16:01 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the one you showed me is something I can appreciate too.

Even the works of Pablo Picasso have sense to my eyes.

It's in works like this [link] that I have troubles understanding why they are so appreciated by many. I mean, I could do it too... I throw some paint on a canvas and go out and say that it's a masterpiece. It kinda feels like an insult to those who spent years and years perfecting their technique and how to draw real figures...

But again, this is my opinion and others might think differently.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpinningStarshine In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-12-06 21:23:39 +0000 UTC]

(Picasso's works come across as too morbid to me.) A valid question, but how can you say this person didn't spend years and years perfecting their technique for this pieces like the one you linked me to? Personally, I'm taken by it; I haven't seen anything like it before. It's impressive in its violence, becoming much more than simply thrown paint. I support your opinions, but not your assumptions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to SpinningStarshine [2010-12-06 22:49:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, some might plan the painting for days before starting it, but some might just throw a bucket of paint at the canvas and sell it as if it was made of gold. I never understood that kind of abstractism, and never will. It's too... complex and confusing. And it makes no sense to me^^'

So yeah, I prefer paintings were I can recognise what I see, like landscapes and people/animals

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 07:00:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yes. The term 'doujin' comes from 'doujinshi', which means 'fan made manga' of fan made ideas/plots/things/etc, pretty much. *___*

Ahahah~ Well, that's a given! I just... ah.. wanted to ask if that was alright with you, first, as the idea is yours~ I'm just a drawer with too much free time with a sister who realized that~ -nods and scratches back of head-

-winks- Well, I hope I can capture it correctly. x__X

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 07:26:39 +0000 UTC]

and I'm a writer with enough time to write but with too much lazy issues. Which means that I tend to procrastinate half the time instead of working on the next chapter (although, I'm impressed that I got this far with a fic considering my previous attempts at a long story always resulted in FAILS).

Anyway, I'm sure you can get things right. You're a good artist^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 07:31:33 +0000 UTC]

-still has the PROCRASTINATORS!UNITE flag- -waves it around some more- Wooo~~~

Man, I know what you mena about fics, though. I tend to keep stalling mine over and over, and they eventually just turn reg. hiatus. D: I'm trying to curb that trait. xDDD

And thank you~~~~ You'll be the first to know when I have anything done... But as a Quick Q : Do you imagine Bass.EXE to be like the manga [adult-ish figure] or like the anime [more kid-ish body]~?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 07:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Can I have one of those flags?

As for Forte. Since I started with basing my fic on the anime, I always "saw" him as his anime counterpart. So yeah, his body structure is a lot like Netto's (this is another reason why no one ever figured that Forte was really Netto).

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 08:04:42 +0000 UTC]

[-hands over one of the win!flags to you- xD]

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 08:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the flag!

As for the episodes, if you want to see them just to get a reference on Forte, he actually appears in just a bunch of them (can't remember the ones, though), or you could look for images on the net.

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 15:30:28 +0000 UTC]

It's cool~ I happen to have the manga in my bookshelf. I'll just mentally 'de-age' the manga version to a more child frame. ;3

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 15:52:28 +0000 UTC]

*envy!* you have the mangaaaaa

Actually, I do have it too, but since here in italy it was never ported, I had to download it, and I have alwys troubles reading manga on the monitor of the pc, so I only got as far as the end of Forte and Rockman's first battle.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask (either here, via PM or via msn/yahoo)

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 16:02:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh!!! My, I've never thought about hard it is to import from Japan to countries super far away. -nervous sweatdrop- Makes it seem like I might be a tad spoiled with this. xD

To tell the truth, though, the manga takes a slight wobble to not-quite-as-awesome after they achieve that... um... 'legendary power'. I preferred the first books a LOT better...

Conveniently, that was when Bass was still epic/still the main enemy. xD

Maybe I can see if I can scan in the part of the manga that deals with Bass's [or do you prefer the name Forte?] past in SciLab all drawn out... for about 1o pages? ;o!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 16:14:15 +0000 UTC]

As I said,I have all the scans, I just never get around to read them. But I did read Forte's past (yeah, I prefer the japanese names since I was introduced to the exe serie via japanese anime subbed english) and that's one of the few points I took from the manga. The rest is based on the anime (like Cross Fusion, which is a big point of the fic)

But yes, I've heard of people disliking the last arc of the manga story

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 16:58:24 +0000 UTC]

O~~~~~ Ahaha~ I see, I see! -winks- But, ok~ I shall call him Forte, and likewise, Lan to Netto. xD

I was actually introduced via my sister, who got the game from a friend. Only it was MMBN 2! xD [It made me happy that Sean was more important in the manga, though. xD Is he even in the anime~?]

Ah~~ I'm actually a little unknown in some of the crossfusion, like the story behind it, but I've seen glimpses of some of the anime to know what it looks like. ;3

...
And yes, the last arc could have gone better. Oh, well! The manga itself had La-- er, Netto awesome~ And that was good enough for me! xDDDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 17:12:00 +0000 UTC]

I may prefer using the japanese names, but if you want to use the english ones, I don't mind.

Yeah, Sean (can't remember his japanese name) had more importance in the game and in the manga, while in the anime he doesn't even exist and Forte was created by the left over data of Pharaohman (while the rest went to create Gospel)

Cross Fusion... Cross Fusion was something that Netto's dad created as a mean to have navis help their operators in dangerous tasks (like repairing something in space), but it was eventually turned into a good way to fight crime.

The Dimensional Area... hmm... I think that more than one had the same idea, Yuichiro was at the beginning, but Regal got there first

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fehize In reply to Az-The-Dragon [2010-11-30 18:41:00 +0000 UTC]

Ok! Thanks for all of that! xD I didn't know Regal got the Dimensional Areas first. xD

I'll keep the names a'la Japanese for continuity[?].

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Az-The-Dragon In reply to Fehize [2010-11-30 18:45:31 +0000 UTC]

well, I'm not exactly sure who invented it first, but Regal had completed it when Yuichiro was still developing it.

Might be because Regal's Dimensional Area was... different than Yuichiro. While Yuichiro used normal power, Regal used the... err... "life force of navis" to power the thing up. Or something like that
