Though, a little thing I see that could be considered an improvement: if that tiger were looking at the "camera", he would probably would try to look with both eyes. In this pose his right eye's sight would be obstructed by his nose, so I thingk that he would have turned his head a little. Of course it could be that the tiger was startled and that his left eye turned faster than his head, but in most cases the pose would be unnatural. I think if you would make him look ahead, it would look better.

Yes but in the reference the tiger seems to look more past the camera, were in the painting the tiger looks slightly more towards the camera. That slight difference, combined with the pose, makes it less natural to look at.

The pupil is in the exact same place though.

It is an almost indistinguishable difference that I at first only could see on intuition. Comparing the image and the painting, I can see why it is hard to spot, but due to the eye's shape in relation to the pupil position, the direction that the tiger is looking differs by a few degrees. It is very subtle and I didn't notice it myself until I looked at it more critically. Hence the post below.
And of course I still do like this piece of art.

If you're going to critique art, you need to be close to or on par with the artist's talent, otherwise you make an ass out of yourself.

It is your good right to think that. I do agree that an experienced art critique would be able to give more constructive advice, but in my opinion that doesn't mean that a visitor or customer couldn't express their opinion on the art and what they think is good and bad about it. In some cases it is even prefered to look at it from multiple perspectives. From drawing and painting technique to expressiveness of the art, the clearness of the message or maybe even the intended complexity or abstractness. Even a ten year old could give their opinion on art from their point of view.
