Your work always amazes me! I have to make a set of baroque stays for a game that's starting soon, and I am almost dreading it. I haven't done such heavy boning before! eep!

The fabric is definitely reminiscent of 18th century fashion, and this piece is so well crafted. It's such a lovely art work and I can't stop looking at it.
Definitely a fav!

This is amazing. I love how it has nothing where the hips go. Cause sitting n a corset that has sides on the hips huts...plus it looks funny. lol I love everything you make. I tried sewing and making my own costumes...i can do small stuff....but big stuff makes me sad....lol. Awesome job here!

Beautiful corset. I love making corsets, they're the most fun underpinning ever.

(And I love my 20,000 years of fashion book too! I'd die without it.)

From the fabric to the design, this is a gorgeous corset! Looks as accurate as if it had been salvaged from the time period Gotta love decorative period underpinnings. They're just so much nicer than a simple white corset ^^

I think get more excited when I see period correct underpinnings than when I see the gowns they go with. I'm weird. Anyway, question time: Is there a busk, and what is it made from? What pattern/source material did you use to create the corset? Did you use steel boning? I am a huge fan of boned tabs on my corsets, do you find that this corset digs into your hips since there are no tabs, or does the cut prevent this?

Well, that is a start, I know there will be more questions later.

heh me too it's like having a good set of sexy underwear

There is no busk since I arranged bones tightly and my reference was a picture of actual corset in fashion book called 20000 years of fashion. It is a bible of fashion!
Pattern I made myself (as for every one of my dresses) from just looking at the picture. I used plastic boneing made from plastic straps. You can't find steel bones in Croatia nor busks .

No tabs is no problem..it sits perfectly on your waist since that is the only spot you want to reduce

You can't see it on the picture but there is a small loop on each side of the corset for secureing hoops from slideing down the waist in case of a heavier dress.

I've made my own wooden busks before which work pretty well. I will have to keep an eye out for that book. I leant it out, but I love Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion books. It sounds like you use the same plastic for boning that I do--it works great! I've seen people using loops to secure underpinnings in earlier eras too. Very cool.
