We sat near the statuary dogs in the baking sundust motes crept about the heavy air
seeking crevices in our sweat damp skin
we lay by the sweating adobe pack in the oven heat
red clay filtered down on waves of shimmering hot
seeking the solidity of motionlessness
we set in the timeless dust of the red sun
our thoughts pawed aimlessly in argil minds
seeking the attention of the panting brindle hounds
