Description Here's another entry for ~Dragonsmana 's E.T. Files .

I had a pretty bad case of ennui today (which is odd, because I finished all my assignments today and I'm onto Reading Week now), so designing a nifty creature was rather therapeutic. I admit it doesn't look especially alien, but screw that.

Background
I wasn't able to find any references to Mantis Aliens (except vague references to aliens which look like mantises), so I just made it all up.

My Opinion
Never heard of them before, so I don't have much of an opinion on them.

Made-Up Gobbledegook
The !zurr!!ing are a species of gangly, mantis-like aliens. Fully erect, they can reach up to twelve feet in height, but they normally crouch down slightly. Their long arms and legs are used to help them run and climb in the "grasslands" and "forests" of their home planet. Their feet are prehensile and instead of being right-handed or left-handed, !zurr!!ing hand-using or foot-using. They have three genders, which are nearly identical except for when they are receptive to gametes. Any combination of the three types of gametes can lead to children.

!zurr!!ing are very rarely found on Earth. The gravity is far too great for them and even with the best of gravity dampeners they are liable to break fingers or toes. Earth is much colder than their own planet and they find it unpleasant even at the equator. They are also not very advanced and casual visits to far-off planets simply isn't feasible. Occasionally, though, a !zurr!!ing in a mixed-species crew will find itself on Earth. They rarely stay long and all they think of humans is that they're a bunch of short, hairy fatties.

Yeah, he was originally going to be a subdued brown and blue, but I always use bright colours when I'm first colouring (my eyesight isn't very good and I can't see where I already coloured) and I got rather attached to an orange alien mantis.
