She probably uses straps to hold stuff in place or just keeps everything in a sack. But i think such mechanism would have a gyroscope to minimize risk of stuff falling from shelves

The straps make sense. It'd be like a medieval version of the space station. They strap everything down up there. 
Even with a gyroscope, the shifting weight and the movement would cause stuff to fall off shelves.
