I would probably wrote longer one, but my english doesn't allow me for nothing more
I like to watch macro photos and take some if I have enough time, but I never had chanse to take photo like this one [with compact camera it's impssible]
I'm really glad You like my comment

I think your english is excellent!

It is a  great way of putting my mind at easy when I an out taking these photos

If it makes you happy, this shot was taken with a compact camera

Oh really? What camera do You have ?

Azph In reply to SabakuNoShi [2014-08-03 14:16:08 +0000 UTC]

It is a Pentax WG-3 (I think its called)

it has this little ring of LEDs round the lens that works really good when shooting close ups

Oh I didn't know pentax can do it...I have Pentax S1 now [little, silver one]
They have really great cameras, I have to admit it

Azph In reply to SabakuNoShi [2014-08-03 19:02:38 +0000 UTC]

You should be able to pull it off with that cam. The trick is to get the lens close enough to the target

I think so, but the target is always running from me hehe

I know what You mean. Two days ago I was 'hunting' for bumbleebee. When I had camera in my hands they were really fast, when I hide it, they just sit at one place

Azph In reply to SabakuNoShi [2014-08-03 19:26:59 +0000 UTC]

Bumblebees are the worst. they never sit still and if I manage to get a shot I can guarantee that they have turned their asses to the camera.

Commenting because of comment month for CRPhotography

The red eyes pop out enormously ( in multiple ways) in this photo. Wow! Great level of detail on the eyes and the hairs between the eyes. Wonderful contrast between the strong colour and the more subdued remainder of the photo.
For me, the sharp part might have extended a bit more to include the snout as well.
Looking again, I also see the very tiny reflections that I really like. Specifically those above its right (and our view left) eye.
I always wonder how people do these great macros. Do you stun the animals or kill them, or howcome the do not move?

Azph In reply to Hansmar [2014-08-14 08:41:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot for taking the time to comment!
I agree with the sharpness, but the focus area is so very limited when you go so close.
This pic is taken with a pretty normal compact camera so the lens is about two centimeters from the fly. I didn't want to start adjusting things to much at that point

I don't like the stunning/killing technique that some people use. I feel best when I can take my pic and then let the little buggers be.

Best advise I can give is to be out early in the morning since this pretty much imitates the stunning you wrote about earlier. When it comes to flies (along with a lot others) you have to move very slowly towards them. I read somewhere that a fly see things ten times slower than we do. That's why it is so hard to smack 'em.
Imagine that you move towards them ten times slower than you should normally. The fly won't even understand that to are coming closer since every thing goes so slow. At least this is my own very pseudoscientific explanation

Hansmar In reply to Azph [2014-08-14 19:44:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your extensive response, very much appreciated.
Remarkable that you can make such a close-up with a normal compact! My 'travel zoom' seems not to be able to focus very well from very close, though I should be able to put it at 0 cm of the object. I fully understand that you cannot go about adjusting many things, because the fly will be gone before you say 'click'!
So, early in the morning appears to be the best time for all photography, certainly also for landscapes (with some morning fog). What a pity that I really am an evening person.
I have heard that flies actually (only) see things that move. If you move very slowly, it might not see the movement. Another issue with smacking them is that they probably feel the air movement.

Keep making those great close-ups!

It's Commenting Month at CRPhotography

I really enjoy insect macros, and you did a great way at focusing on his eyes and the hairs on his head They immediately stand out, though personally, I would have like it a bit better of the same could be said for his mouth.
I admire you managed to get this amount of light on the wee beastie, seeing as you must have been pretty close to it. It does look like there's a bit too much light on it's right, which might to lead to thinking it's a tad overexposed.

I very happy that you liked it.
Unfortunately, this pic is taken with a compact cam so therefore there are some limits in the quality. But I'd like to reverse that thought; I'm happy that it turned out this good with a limited camera
