Aztil — Barron Falls

Description There are several modes of transport through Barron Gorge National Park, including the historic Kuranda train and the Skyrail cableway. They provide spectacular views of the gorge and the Barron River far below.

One of the main features of the park is the Barron Falls, known as Din Din by the Djabugay people, in whose traditional country the park lies.

I caught the train up and the skyrail down. As part of the train trip the train stops for ten minutes to allow people to take photos of the falls. The skyrail is visible at the top of the treeline.

The time that we travelled on the Kuranda train and it stopped here, we found out that they turn the water on for the tourists on the train. That was over 20 years ago. Not sure if that still happens.

Oh wow thats a really good photo better than mine

I like the barron falls its so pretty, I went earlier this year but it was a rainy day
I went on the skyrail I've also been on the train a couple times...It goes past my house

Thanks! Got lucky when went through apparently not long after rains... I saw a photo in Kuranda in a cafe showing the falls after major rains, pretty awesome sight and would be great to see!

I like Kuranda I've been so many times have you seen the lollies shop where they make that hard candy stuff? its really cool

Probably though not when the sky is grey...when we went up on the skyrail we couldn't see very well coz of the super thick fog...it was crazy

No didn't see that... Walked through a lot of shops when there... Found a great rock shop with brilliant displays... Got stuck on the Skyrail for about twenty minutes some fault but apart from that it was well worth the views on the way down!

No worries, maybe next year! No didn't see the plane... Last year when I was up there I hiked down the track to the Barron Falls and saw a helicopter rescue, a guy had fallen into the section at the back where the little fall is... The helicopter was hovering in the hole and winched him up on a stretcher...

Haha, don't be, I was wracking up enough places anyway, a few more made little difference We're lucky, we've got a beautiful country Ahh beach shots...haven't gotten the chance to do them since I've had my 7D Hoping to get the opportunity in early october though...fingers crossed!!

Still getting used to the 7D... Got a cheap 60D for the trip as I was constantly having to change lenses (plus I like flip out screens got used to with my Olympus before moving over to canon)... Now completely broke (hence no flash yet or macro lens)... Took lots of shots but taking ages to sort through...

I've had my 7D for nearly 12 months now...still learning things with it! Lol, it's a great camera though I've been toying with the idea of getting a second body as well...the only reason I've been getting so much gear is because I don't have to pay rent, or fuel, or food etc yet. Making the most of still living at home haha. I decided on the YN560 for the first flash, too, by the way. Think I'll start out with something less complicated
Can't wait to see them!!! You make me so jealous haha

Second body + 18-200mm lens... Great for travelling... But poor focusing choices compared to 7D something to bear in mind if you go that way!

Definitely worth the trip... Becoming a regular winter holiday trip... Just so much to see! Luckier this year as they had more rain and the falls were flowing well!

It is a beautiful part of the world! I went up there for holidays recently. Throw in the beaches and rainforests and it's pretty close to idyllic! Thanks for the Fav too!
