Description An alternate South America in a world in which the Soviet-Japanese Neutrality Pact was never signed and the USSR actually collapsed in World War II.

After the Soviet defeat, fascism became a more mainstream ideology and many governments in several regimes around the world adopted policies similar to those of the Axis Powers. In South America, the Argentine government was one of the most enthusiastic about adopting fascist policies, and eventually, the brutal oppresion of the working class in the country by the ruling elite over decades led to the Argentine Revolution of 1971.

The success of the Argentine revolt set an example for other rebellions by socialist groups in nearby countries including Brazil, where in 1982 the rebels declared the independence of two new nations, the Workers' Republic of Mato Grosso and the Cooperative State of Rio Grande.

By 1990, the socialists had came to power in Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, and in Chile, a socialist uprising led to the balkanization of the country into four states; the Republic of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, the Socialist State of Chiloe, the Union of Arauco and the Democratic Republic of Chile.

In 1993, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mato Grosso and Rio Grande established the Socialist Union of South America as an economic and military alliance against Brazil and other countries attempting to overthrow the socialist regimes in the region. Soon, in 1994, they were joined by Arauco and Chiloe thus creating the most influential international organization in Latin America and the Southern Hemisphere.
