Description My interpretation of the Elder God Azathoth, from the Necronomicon.
According to Donald Tyson's "Necronomicon", Azathoth is the creator of all time and space. He was betrayed by one of his servants, who gouged out his eyes and broke the divine flute he uses to create reality. He now seethes in the dark center of chaos, blind and insane.
Azathoth is the greatest of the Elder Gods and corresponds with the sphere of the Sun.

Ya, he's supposed to be sort of androgenous.
And the cuff on his horn is a gift from Yig. Hence the random orange.

Azathoth belongs to H.P.Lovecraft.
The design belongs to me.

I'm not exactly the avid reader of Lovecraft, mainly for lack of money, but Azathoth isn't a Elder God. He's a Outer God. Still, great artwork! I really like Lovecraft, despite not being able to buy his books.

I'm glad you enjoy Lovecraft too! I decided to pick the most prominent Gods and throw them all into one big group, just for simplicity and convenience. You may very well be correct, though! Thanks for the compliments. ^.^

Actually, in Tyson's Necronomicon it was Azathoth's maddess from the loss of his daughter which caused him to rip out his own eye's and hit a high note so loud that he broke his flute himself. The only thing the Crawling Chaos did was drive his daughter away. It's a cool interpretation though.

All of that stuff with Azathoth's daughter and such was detailed in Donald Tyson's "The Grimoire of the Necronomicon". The material I base my art off of is his earlier work, which is simply titled as "Necronomicon". With respect to that, you're most certainly right.
Thank you for the kind compliment. ^.^

Hm, was it Nyarlathotep who betrayed him? Poor Azy. HeΒ΄s kind of lovable here. ^^

It certainly was Nyarlathotep.
Ya, he kind of is. I make Lovecraft roll in his grave. lmao

Perhaps you can attempt drawing your interpretation of it then. I'd love to see it.
