Hello all! This was something I made a while back for Shades of Gray, the Benildean Press Corps’ literary folio. It was for a poem written by Katrina Sonaco entitled “Loving You”. I've included the full poem below.

Loving You

“Sweetheart, how is it like? Loving me?”
“What is it like loving you?

Darling, loving you is like deep-frying something in boiling water.
Loving you is like rapping bible verses.
Loving you is like gazing at the stars in the middle of the afternoon.
Loving you is like using cocaine as life support.
Loving you is like figure-skating on a rocky surface.
Loving you is like the President declaring burgers as the new vegetables.
Loving you is like accidentally banging your head on a clear glass pane.
Loving you is like talking to a ghost.
Loving you is like chugging down ice cubes.
Loving you is like watching the clock’s arms tick backward.
Loving you is like wishing the Pope were younger.
Loving you is like watching one shoot another and keep silent about it.
Loving you is like using paper as tissue.
Loving you is like taking a Louis Vuitton pouch bag to hiking.
Loving you is like saying, “It’s not you; it’s me”.
Loving you is like staring at someone while they change their clothes from a distance.
Loving you is like a dried-up river.
Loving you is like nine-inch nails scratching you back.
Loving you is, well…lovely.”

“Is that so? Why, I had no idea!”

It’s a strange kind of love, like loving someone so much that it doesn’t make sense anymore, I think? But ah heck, I might be wrong considering the experiences I even have to base it on. ╮(─▽─)╭

I would like to know what you guys think too! What's your take on the poem?

By the way, our college's Shades of Gray is I think older and it is completely different from Fifty Shades of Grey!
