Pretty much what I thought. 
I've heard some people say that the movie is at least different and original from the storyline that has been repeated many times. Me, personally, I'd rather have the story similar to that of the anime/manga because if you're doing an ADAPTATION, we expect it to look at least REPRESENTABLE and RECOGNIZABLE to what we all know and love. As far as it being "different" and "original", the movie itself is cliche and reminds me too much of Spider-Man, so I do not see how it is original in any way. Being different is okay, but if it's different to the point where it is not recognizable, the movie will surely fail. I was traumatized of what they did to Goku. He was THE absolute worst change ever. He was my childhood hero. 
On the other hand, this series is quite unique in its own way that it's like...impossible...at least in my opinion. Some things are better left as anime. I just CANNOT see it being a live-action movie at all... And yet, I was flabbergasted by the horror of what they did to Goku, it's ridiculous.

Oy...Sorry, there was something else I needed to add here. Before I do so, let me make this more clear - I am well aware that I contradicted myself in my previous comment and will probably do so even further especially since:
1) I knew the movie would suck from the start so I should not be surprised of the changes they are going to make (even though it still managed to make me gag a little). I just thought I'd openly express the bastardization they did to the main character.
2) I'm a masochist. 'Nuff said.
Now, this particular anime is very fantastical, and like I said, it is borderline impossible to make it into a live-action film. It would look totally awesome as a college project, but when it comes to pros, LEAVE IT OUT because then it will just look plain silly. Hollywood attempts to make Dragonball "realistic" which is one of the reasons why the movie bombed. You cannot take an anime that looks so cartoonish and happy-go-lucky and make it "real". It NEVER works. It's not just the translation, but the movie alone is what made the film a complete disaster. The story was rushed and cliched up the ass, the acting itself was subpar, the special effects looked 90s-ish especially with Shenlong (bleh), and none of these characters looked NOR acted like themselves (minus Master Roshi). Oh, and leaving out Krillin was a big mistake.

I just watched the trailer, but I'm not allowed to give an opinion seeing how I never grew up with Astro Boy, but the animation looked nice.
She did in Toriyama's extra illustrations, but not in the actual story line.
Besides, everyone in the movie has guns. Even Yamcha. And Mai.

Anyway, they're kinda like Team Rocket, except they're not in every episode.
