It almost looks divine. the bird, I mean. This is such an awesome piece of art. The simplicity of it makes it brilliant. I think I like this one better than the one you used as reference. It's much less distracting like this.

The phoenix is a beautiful fiery bird. Have you seen the pokΓ©mon moltres? It is also a fire bird. Both are legends. nice artwork here, love the bright colors!

nice effect of the bright light there. although i do wish the bird had more of a torso.
a few feathers here and there would add a nice touch too.

... for me, phoenix is the 'best theme' for ANYTHING... I love this bird... already have a tattoo of phoenix on my left arm... planning to get two more on my back... SO HELL YEAH! Go for it!
... and about the torso, I did make one, but the wings seemed to disappear and it gave me no freedom to work on the wings, so the final product is what you see...
