Description HAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaaaaaaaaaa

HAAhaHahahahahaaaa

(dies)

There was one more piece from this signing, but I don't really like it. So it shall never be scanned.

This one was done with 3 kinds of pens, and an ink-soaked paper towel. I was feeling a little Sienkiewicz-y or something. Why in heaven's name I made a VENOM is beyond me.

I hate this character with a passion I normally reserve for cancer, but this is a really cool rendition. The first and last time I was impressed with anything Venom was when Mary Jane said in his first appearance, "He grew a mouth, Peter." It's nice to see him here returned to a horror character.

Thanks very much! I'm not a fan either; this was done by request. So I had to make it interesting TO ME.

That's the best way to do it.

Drawings of Venom tend to be fairly bulky and monstrous, but I really enjoyed your take on Venom as a slithery drooling phantom-like terror.

Fantastic drawing.

Thanks; I'm glad I'm not alone in my impression of Venom. Drawing him as a big cartoony hulk of a thing just takes all the HORROR out of it!

Cheers for the Favourite

Love the brush technique that you're using on this one. You're quite the inspiration

Hey, whatever makes a mark that works!

I made this when I was on-site at a comics shop. I didn't want to bother dealing with cleaning a brush, so I just used a napkin. And on this smooth surface, it made some nice marks.

This is a classic example of Bob-Ross-style "happy accidents". And the more you do it, the more tricks you get for your arsenal!

You are such a mainstream comic book geek in denial. I love it. Haha!

Isn't it awful? I think I need to do a Green Goblin and a Black Cat, and then the circle will be complete.

No, get even cheesier than that. Do the Justice League characters! I want to see an Andy Bennett version of Red Tornado. Haha.

Thanks. There's a ton of potential with the character; I just think the writers and artists at Marvel made him a little too cartoony and goofy as time passed. So I was going for a little more overt horror and mystery here. Glad you like it.

I agree that Marvel have often strayed too far towards the comedy/light-hearted side of Venom.... it's like they created a character that could be so dark that they scared themselves away from going the distance..... some of Venom's more recent outings have gone back to formula though which is nice (if that's the right word?!)

one of the best Venoms I've ever seen! much more menacing than the one in the comics!! I would run like the devil if I saw your version coming at me!

B3NN3TT In reply to jhames34 [2007-02-17 20:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Hah, thanks! I always thought that Venom should be more wraith-like. When they started making him all huge, with cartoon spit and Hulk-sized muscles and funny little cartoon legs, I think they wrecked the character. They took all the menace and all the mystery out of it.

So I'm bringin' it back!!!
