You open a colour image in photoshop,you then copy the colour layer as a new layer.Then you desaturate the top layer.and cut out the area that you want colour.so it's sort of like having a piece of colour paper under a white piece,but the area of the top paper will be shown by the colour under

With it stretching far back it gives a sense like the water is still flowing. good job.
