No one could understand why Bonzo always painted that one tear on his features, or why Fido declined from playing fetch with the others. There was something unusual about them, something...gloomy.
Eventually, they were asked to leave the Lands of Innocence, and went out into the world with nary a destination in mind. Soon enough they wound up in Irazel, the city of the castaways, and it was there that they met Neglix: a strange, spindly creature, who said he worked as a guardian against those dead who were evil, and who sought to return and bring suffering to the living. Seeing potential in the clown and dog, Neglix offered them positions in the Firm that he worked for. They accepted, and so was born in that moment a mismatched trio of Wardens, sentinels of the shadows, ensuring that invasion by the dead never befell their home city.

For anyone who's interested, the three all have their own abilities: Neglix has a venom that affects only spirits, Fido's howl weakens spirits, and Bonzo possesses strength that is very useful when fighting monsters. The Firm that they work for has existed for over a thousand years; I'll do more on it in the days to come.
