Description This is not a computer manipulated image.
It's done with chemicals applied to a print while still in the developing process.

In a very dark room.

this inspires me to not give up on the dark room. after this semester, I'm so sick of working with chemicals, but I think I'll try it again after taking a closer look at this photo

Thank you tariq. I wish I could say I was going to do more work like this but now that I scan my negatives right to the computer instead of printing them...who knows? It's pretty time consuming and expensive.
But you just can't get these results on a computer....

yeah i know. when i was a kid, i used to dabble with the traditional stuff and darkroom work is really satisfying, but... there is no way i could afford it at all now - either in terms of time or fundage

still, if you get a chance, i know i'd love to see what you come up with if you do some planned stuff like this.

sucked into the vortex...lucky guy! really interesting technique great for creating a godlike power effect...much like I have over the people under the carpet...I wish my scraps were this good.

Well everyone has there own idea of the 'scraps' folder. I think of it as a place where someone could put their snapshots that aren't 'quite' art or experiments that need refining.
Or you could fill it with birthday and Xmas cards that you made for you mother because you feel guilty for not buying her anything, even though the damn things take you days to make and she doesn't think they're very funny anyway.

I agree about the scraps folder but yours is loaded with stuff other people would kill to post...and my Mom never complains about the lovely gifts I find her at the Drug Store

This happened in my photo class the other day, someone threw away a print stright from the developer that they didn't like, and something like this happened. Turns out she liked it after it had been in the trash for two hours. It looked very cool. As does this!

Which is EXACTLY how I discovered the process.
Mistakes are the one thing a computer can't duplicate well.

OMG!!! You actually did something to make me mad!
Why is this in scraps?!?!?! *sadness*
If you love me, you will change it to a deviation!

JK... you don't have to... It really is awesome though.

Now Andy...you know I love you. Actually since I noticed your 'Straight Artists for Gay Rights' stamp I truly adore you to pieces, scouts honor. I've even got a pumpkin pie in the oven as I type this.
But to be honest this picture is an experiment that isn't quite 'there' yet. But thanx for the loving/compliment/threat. Let's me know I'm on the right track

Thanx Jimmy. The black alchemy of the darkroom is truly a dying artform. Which is sad because there's a beauty in it that the computer can't replicate
