'Next please.' said the Teller.

Roxy stepped forward, passed over the bag and levelled her gun at the employee's head. 'You know what to do' she said.

Like clockwork, so far. Before she'd gotten busted and sent for a long stretch in Lilybank's High Security wing, she'd pulled twenty one bank heists - the twenty-second being that last one that had landed her in jail. That was a pretty good rate of success, all in all and Roxy generally enjoyed her work - and the rewards it brought even more. Buut...

...it was getting a little boring. When she'd broken out she really hadn't been into the whole Leopard thing that Selina had going here. Roxy was more a wolf than a cat, and a lone one at that. She'd head along to the gang's affiliated bars for a drink here and there, would nod at Selina when visiting her nightclub. Some of the gangster girls were ok - Rowena, the fence and Chrissie, who must have burgled half the West Side by now.

Still, despite having to give the gang a skim of her take, it was a good setup. With all the street thugs and hoodlums anv various bottom-feeders keeping the pigs busy and the locals afraid, robbing a bank was almost like running out for groceries these days. There was no...challenge anymore. Hell, last job she'd shot the Teller just to juice things up a little. She might do the same here. Or maybe not.

Truth was, Roxy had robbed 11 out of the town's 12 banks now and this was the last one. How many other criminals could say that? But as well as having exhausted all the targets, she already felt it was time to skip town and find pastures new. Selina's cushy setup couldn't last forever, and she was sick and tired of having to hand over a slice of her take every job she did.

Perhaps she'd see if Chrissie and Rowena wanted to form a crew. She didn't like to share, but a couple of more bodies meant they could hit much bigger banks, maybe crack a few vaults. Although she hadn't seen them in the bar last night, or the night before, which was unusual. Once she had her take from today maybe she'd call them, sound them out...

...speaking of the take, it was taking the Teller much longer than usual to fill the bag. In fact, she hadn't filled any of it all.

'Hey!' she said 'Can't you read?' she snapped.

The Teller just smiled and shrugged, but she was not looking at Roxy.

'She can read...' a voice said. It sounded old, female. '...but she's not going to give you any money. Your bank robbing days are over.'

There had been no one behind her in the line when she came in, but Roxy could feel the presence of someone just behind her. She turned to see a small, neatly dressed old lady, Chinese or Taiwanese, she would guess. There was something about the woman that unsettled her.

Roxy raised the gun at the old woman's head. Evidently, some people still needed to be reminded that the Leopards ruled this town. And here was an opportunity to make a demonstration, and ensure the Teller coughed up the cash speedily. 'Is that right?' she said and started to squeeze...

...when asked about it later, in one of the overcrowded cells full of Leopards, Roxy would struggle to describe the fight, but whether that was because it was so quick or she'd blotted out the terrible memory she couldn't say. She never got to fire the gun, which was sent spinning, or even reach for her knife. She barely saw the kicks or punches that sent her sprawling onto the teller's counter. It was confusing...there had been just one Teller before, but now there was two...or was that four?

'Sorry ma'am' said the Teller with a smile, as she pressed a button 'But I think you're going to find there's a substantial penalty for an unauthorised withdrawal.' The alarms that went off were loud and blaring, but all Roxy wanted to do right now was close her eyes and sleep...
