Description “Jade Samurai” Imperial Warrior

The “Jade Samurai” was my first opportunity to use a theme from a culture that I respect and just ran with it. I wanted to create something completely unique. A piece of Art that you would recognize like an old friend. Only to find out that the person you thought you new is completely different from how you remembered them. I wanted to use a color not normally associated with the Japanese Samurai. Thanks to all the magnificent dyes and paints in my arsenal, I was able to use a combination of techniques to bring out the multitude of details and colors.

Carved around the entire suit of armor are two Japanese style serpents in aged gold. Complimenting the jade/emerald sections of the armor are amber crystals. To help complete the connection between the two tones, I incorporated emerald crystal stones in the aged gold sections of armor as well. Shielding the glair from sun and shrouding this characters appearance in mystery is the “Kasa”. (Traditional Japanese Hat) Through out this particular Kasa is carved four different types of “Oni” (Japanese Demons, Spirits) along with two Japanese koi fish. In each one of the Demons eyes are red ruby crystals. Splash carved leather surrounds the aged koi fish as they leap from the surface of the water. Crystal stones are inlaid into the eyes of these two symbolic fish.

Although I greatly enjoy recreating traditional armor. It is always great when I am faced with a project which grants me the fictional ability to rewrite history through my Art. There are many details throughout my armor that I have left for the powers of observation. (Check out the album “Jade Samurai” for detailed photo’s) Thank you and enjoy.

This much I really want to find out. Where did you EVER find this?! This is not just beautiful, it is... MAGNIFICANT! All my life I dreamed I would find something very unique above and beyond all art imagined! This is what I always wanted to see!

To start, The capturing of this photo was very suitable. It has a good viewpoint that captures a lot of beauty in this.

Second, the coloring is just beautiful! It has the strong green, flashes of other colors, and the details in the armor are just outstanding!

Finally, you capture a lot of good essence in the background that makes it stand out and pops out at you.

All in all, you did a excellent job capturing this on photo! I tend to save this to my favorites, and pray you have more beautiful pieces to offer the audience! Wonderful job!

I did indeed create this armor by hand. All of my artworks and suits of armor are hand made by me after countless hours of work. The concepts behind them are original and straight from the perspective of how I view the various cultures.

What type of artwork do you do?

I am always interested in meeting new people and helping others express their creative side.

You, my friend, are probably the most unique artists I have heard of that isn't known to the world!

My line of work lines with anime-related artwork. I have a gallery of some artworks I did Via computer.

I'm glad to hear that. Perhaps I have found someone who is more than what he seems to be. Glad I met you.

Why thank you, you are right about not anyone knowing who I am. I created my deviantart profile about 10 months ago. Before deviantart I hadn't advertised myself in any way. I just obsessed and worked long hours creating works of art, but I suppose it is common for the obsessive artist to be not so good at the web management portion of the business. I am not what you would call computer savvy. Lol.

I am happy to say that since I started my deviantart account I have received a massive amount of positive feedback. I have had many commissions develop from it, many sales, a talent based scholarship, a daily deviation, and 40,000 individual deviation views. That's not to shabby for only 10 months, but I still welcome any and all help to get my work and my name out their. I am trying very hard to build a quality reputation.

I invest a large amount of work in every piece of art that I create. Even the suits of armor that I create become exquisite pieces of Art. Each one, having had months of time invested meticulously carving, punching, dyeing, painting, and paying attention to every little detail. This is how I show my respect to the culture.

I see. Well, when I made my account, I wanted to view others artwork, and most prized creations. That way I can get an idea in my drawings. I saw your armors, and I got incredible Samurai drawings, I just wanted more creations! Your armors have a calling, to both me and yourself!

That's good. The more good feedbacks, critiques, and fame you get, the faster you could be known. I've heard famous Artisans visit this site to look for talented artists, for their line of work. To think, if you can be viewed by a famous Artisan and be asked to be their artist for your own product, think of the benefits.

I am impressed. I just wish I can get into armor making. I was on the line of making coats, or robes from Assassin's Creed. Suddenly I dropped that because I never found a master who could teach me.
I truly and deeply respect your skills and talents, and pray one day I can find you, and work along side you into armor designing.

Thank you for your kind words and the compliments on my workmanship. I put a great deal of thought into this particular suit of Samurai armor. I wanted to create something that really popped rather than sticking with just the traditional Japanese colors that would have been common during that era. I used a hotrod metallic jade green with black satin black texturing to bring out the details in my leather carving. My intention was to create a piece of artwork/armor that embodies the attention to detail and discipline that the Japanese Samurai were so widely known for. The concept that was in my head started as a suit of armor forged approximately 1000 years younger than its traditional ancestors would have forged it. In turn, allowing more of a European influence to take hold. This is how I conveyed that concept.

Thank you again for your appreciation. Feel free to critique any of my pieces, I highly recommend perusing my gallery.

Thank you.

So let me get this straight... You MADE that armor?! If so... YOU and I should meet up! I may not be an armor maker, but I look for interesting, and creative craftsmen who are skilled at what they do. If I could combine my artwork with theirs, we then both have an astonishing work of art!

We gotta have a meeting sometime late future!

This is by far one of the sickest suits of armor I have seen. The colors are intense, the structure is awesome, and just the fine details in the stitching and the ornamental pieces make me wanna be a samurai.
