Han Qaya is the old Turkic name for Petrovsky Rocks in Simferopol (capital of the Republic of Crimea, Russia). The rocks rise above the left bank of the Salgir river. In ancient times, the capital of the Scythian empire (a.k.a. the Scythian Neapolis) stood on the upper plateau of this cuesta. At the time of the Crimean Khanate, the palace of Kalga Sultan, the harem gardens, and the sultan bazaar were all near those cliffs. The stone "ghost" in the above artwork is, in fact, a result of the natural erosion of the nummulitic limestone rock.

Thank you! Spotting the ghost in a rock is all about the right angle, time of day and the direction of the sun beams. Some show up in broad daylight while others wait until sunset.

Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow,
Till you find your dream.
