Аянское ущелье отделяет северо-восточный край нижнего плато горного массива Чатырдаг-Яйла от горы Тас-Тау (722 м). По дну ущелья протекает река Аян , которая берёт начало в одноимённой пещере . Это самый многоводный приток реки Салгир. С 1928 года река Аян наполняет Аянское водохранилище — источник питьевой воды Симферополя.

The Ayan Gorge separates the northeastern edge of the lower plateau of the mountain massif Chatyrdag Yayla from the mountain Tas-Tau (722 m). The Rriver Ayan , originating in the eponymous cave , flows at the bottom of the gorge. It is the largest tributary of the River Salgir . Since 1928, the River Ayan has been filling the Ayan Reservoir —the source of drinking water for the city of Simferopol (the capital of the Republic of Crimea , Russia).
